Democrats are ready to go for the jugular after this election.
They want to fundamentally transform the country.
And Chuck Schumer just revealed this one scary plan to cement Democrats’ power forever.
Senate Democrats willing to risk nuking the filibuster
Senate Democrats are desperate to enshrine abortion on demand into law and other key priorities.
And under Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) it appears they’re willing to drastically change rules to make it happen if Democrats control Congress and the White House after the next election.
The Senate filibuster requires 60 votes to move forward with most non-budgetary bills.
Abolishing the filibuster would prevent the minority from using it as a roadblock to stop legislation.
Senate Democrats would be able to pass a bill with 51 votes or 50 if they had the White House and the Vice President to serve as the tiebreaker.
They want to make a filibuster carve out for abortion but admit that would lead to Republicans making exceptions of their own – and thus an end to the filibuster.
U.S. Senator Peter Welch (D-VT) thought it was a risky move but worth it anyway.
“There’s real risk anytime there’s debate about rules and procedures in the Senate,” Welch said. “It becomes very bitter. So yes, there is risk.”
Welch and Senate Democrats are furious that they can’t ram their agenda through with a simple majority.
“The other problem is there’s risk in having a Senate that’s more dedicated to rules and procedures than it is to getting things done,” Welch continued. “It’s very dangerous for the Senate as an institution to simply not address extraordinarily important issues like reproductive freedom, like voting rights.”
Democrats plan to seize permanent power
U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said that abolishing the filibuster opens the door to the Democrats’ wish list of left-wing legislation.
“We would have Roe v. Wade as law of the land, comprehensive immigration reform, better gun safety laws,” Warren said. “And we’d just be warming up.”
“Those are things a majority of the American people want and the majority of people in the Senate want, but we never get there because the 60-vote threshold means that a minority controls the votes that make it through,” Warren continued. “So why keep this hanger-oner?”
Comprehensive immigration reform would be mass amnesty for 20 million illegal aliens who would have voting rights.
Welch’s voting rights bill is a federal takeover of elections that would require mass mail-in voting, making voter ID illegal, and let Democrats dictate election law to all 50 states.
Democrats could add as many as eight new states and 16 Democrat Senators which would make it impossible for Republicans to ever regain control of the Senate.
And Democrats could appoint new Supreme Court Justices to create a left-wing majority and end the rule of law.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) warned abolishing the filibuster would let Democrats “turn America into California.”
Vice President Kamala Harris came out in support of a filibuster carve out for abortion rights.
Democrats are ready to move full steam ahead with cementing their power if they can hold the Senate and the White House and flip the House in the election.
