The country has been rocked by the massive welfare fraud committed by Somali immigrants.
It’s worse than anyone imagined.
And this woke Seattle Mayor had one sick message to taxpayers about Somali scammers.
Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson refuses daycare fraud investigation despite vacant facilities found
Democrat Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson dropped a bombshell during an interview with a local reporter.
Asked directly whether she requested any investigation into potential welfare fraud involving Somali-run daycare centers, Wilson gave a one-word answer that left jaws on the floor.
"No."
Wilson dismissed the entire scandal as nothing more than a racist attack on immigrants.
"This whole issue is not really about fraud, right?" Wilson claimed. "It's about dividing and conquering. It's about making an immigrant community a target, right?"
The Mayor said there's "no reason to assume" fraud based on a daycare operator's identity.
That stunning statement came after independent journalists traveled to Seattle and King County following the Minnesota viral video exposé.
They found the exact same thing — Somali-run daycare centers that appeared empty or inactive despite receiving millions in taxpayer-funded subsidies.
Washington is home to one of the country's largest Somali populations with local leaders estimating around 20,000 residents.
The state has 283 childcare centers that list Somali as their primary language.
And Wilson just told taxpayers she won't investigate a single one of them.
Washington state child care fraud could match Minnesota's $9 billion welfare scandal
Wilson refuses to acknowledge what's happening right under her nose.
Minnesota got all the attention after YouTuber Nick Shirley's viral video showing vacant Somali daycares racked up 135 million views.
Federal investigators estimated that fraud could reach $9 billion across multiple welfare programs in Minnesota alone.
But Seattle has its own Somali daycare problem flying completely under the radar.
Citizen journalists visited multiple Somali-run facilities in Federal Way and other Seattle-area locations.
Locked doors, empty buildings, government checks still flowing — the pattern matched Minnesota's fraud operations perfectly.
The Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families said it conducted 1,440 audits in 2024.
Yet somehow these journalists found suspicious operations in an afternoon that state auditors supposedly missed.
Washington Democrats protect Somali daycare providers accused of welfare fraud
Seattle and Washington Democrats aren't simply looking the other way.
They're running interference for Somali scammers.
Washington Attorney General Nicholas Brown threatened citizen journalists with criminal charges for "harassing" daycare providers.
Independent journalists found suspicious daycares that state auditors supposedly missed, and the state's top law enforcement official warned them they could face prosecution for doing basic investigative work.
Then a Washington state lawmaker introduced legislation to mask information about daycare establishments and make their details private.
The bill would hide the very information that allowed journalists to uncover the fraud in the first place.
Governor Bob Ferguson held a meeting with Somali community representatives to condemn "harmful rhetoric" instead of investigating the fraud allegations.
Democrats saw billions stolen in Minnesota and their response was to make it harder to investigate fraud in Washington.
Washington isn't repeating Minnesota's mistake — they're doing something worse.
In Minnesota, state investigators at least tried to stop the fraud before politicians shut them down with racism accusations.
In Washington, the entire government is working together from the start to protect the scammers.
No state investigators trying to halt payments.
No whistleblowers speaking up from inside agencies.
Just a unified wall of Democrat officials threatening anyone who dares to ask questions.
Minnesota's Feeding Our Future scandal saw $250 million stolen after investigators were intimidated into backing down.
Federal prosecutors charged 92 people in that scheme, with 85 of the 98 indicted being of Somali descent.
Now the same pattern of Somali welfare fraud is unfolding in Seattle.
Wilson refuses to investigate despite seeing exactly what happened in Minnesota.
She's watching billions get stolen from taxpayers in another state and her response is "that won't happen here" without even looking.
FBI Director Kash Patel pledged resources for nationwide investigations into the fraud schemes.
But federal authorities can only do so much when local Democrats actively obstruct efforts to stop the bleeding.
Seattle's welfare fraud problem could match Minnesota's $9 billion crisis.
It could be even worse given Washington's Somali population and the complete lack of oversight.
Nobody knows because Wilson made sure nobody will look.
And Seattle voters will reward her for it.
