Charlie Kirk’s assassination was supposed to be a wake-up call.
Instead, the Left doubled down on the hatred that got him killed.
And Utah college students issued one threat that proves leftists learned nothing from Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
Leftists threaten to vandalize memorial at murder site
Six weeks after a gunman murdered Charlie Kirk while he spoke at Utah Valley University, students at that same campus are already plotting to destroy any memorial built in his honor.
Let that sink in for a moment.
A 31-year-old father of two was shot and killed on their campus for the crime of being a conservative.
And these students’ response? Threaten to vandalize his memorial.
Student Abagael Woods told local media exactly what leftists plan to do if the university honors Kirk’s memory.
“For one thing, it’s going to get vandalized — there’s no way it’s not,” Woods stated.¹
That’s not a warning about potential criminal activity.
That’s a threat.
Woods essentially told the university that if they dare memorialize the man murdered on their campus, leftist students will commit crimes to destroy it.
Her fellow protester Collin Grannis was even more direct about why they’re organizing against the memorial.
“We don’t want his likeness on campus; we don’t want his likeness sort of immortalized,” Grannis declared.²
Translation: We wanted Charlie Kirk silenced, and now that someone murdered him for us, we’re going to make sure he stays erased from history.
The absurd alternative leftists propose
Woods had a suggestion for what the university should do instead of honoring Kirk.
Brace yourself for this one.
“A memorial for unity would be great… we were talking about how therapy dogs on campus would be great,” Woods said.³
Therapy dogs.
A man was assassinated for his political beliefs, and leftists think the appropriate response is bringing puppies to campus.
You can’t make this up.
These are the same people who spent months before Kirk’s assassination trying to silence him through petitions and harassment.
Now they want everyone to forget he existed and focus on emotional support animals instead.
The pattern of leftist violence they’re continuing
Woods isn’t making an empty threat when she promises vandalism.
The Left has spent years destroying anything that offends their political sensibilities.
At Kennesaw State University just two weeks ago, leftist protesters defaced a Charlie Kirk memorial flag with ketchup during an event honoring him.⁴
One student was arrested for battery and obstruction after deliberately bumping into a police officer trying to maintain order.
In 2024, pro-Palestinian protesters at Stanford University spray-painted “F- AmeriKKKa” on a veterans memorial after taking over the president’s office.⁵
The 2020 riots saw leftists topple, deface, or remove over 113 statues and memorials across America.⁶
They destroyed monuments to abolitionists who fought against slavery.
They vandalized memorials to Union soldiers who died ending slavery.
They even defaced a statue of Matthias Baldwin, a businessman who funded schools for black children in the 1800s, spray-painting “COLONIZER” and “MURDERER” across it.⁷
These people don’t care about facts or history.
If you represent something they hate, they’ll destroy any reminder you existed.
The pre-assassination hatred that led to murder
Here’s what makes the Utah students’ threats even more chilling.
Before Kirk’s September 10 appearance at the campus, these same leftist activists circulated a petition demanding the university cancel his speech.
That petition gathered 896 signatures from students who claimed Kirk’s “presence and the messages he delivers stand in contrast to the values of understanding, acceptance, and progress.”⁸
Read the comments those petition signers left.
One wrote: “No tolerance for Nazi f***s like Kirk. Stop the speaking or someone else will.”⁹
Another commenter posted: “I hope Willy beats the s*** out of him” — referring to the university’s mascot.¹⁰
Six weeks later, someone acted on that violent rhetoric and shot Kirk in the neck while he answered questions from students.
Now the same activists who tried to silence Kirk before his murder are threatening to vandalize any memorial the university builds.
They created the environment that got him killed.
And they learned absolutely nothing from it.
The dueling petitions exposing campus divide
The fight over Kirk’s memorial reveals just how divided campuses have become.
Leftist students launched a petition opposing any memorial that’s gathered over 15,000 signatures.¹¹
The petition claims Kirk’s “words and actions caused pain and division” and argues his support for the Second Amendment disqualifies him from being memorialized.¹²
“Our hearts ache for the countless children who have tragically lost their lives to gun violence in schools,” the petition declares.¹³
These people are actually arguing that because Kirk supported the Second Amendment, he doesn’t deserve a memorial after being murdered.
That’s the same twisted logic that convinced someone to kill him in the first place.
But supporters of honoring Kirk launched their own petition that’s collected more than 21,000 signatures — 6,000 more than the opposition.¹⁴
Michael Holmes witnessed Kirk’s assassination on September 10.
He said the university has a moral obligation to memorialize what happened.
“I think a memorial is the least that they can do,” Holmes told Fox 13. “This would be a great thing for UVU because it’s allowing people to heal through the right people taking responsibility… Unfortunately, UVU now has a legacy of blood.”¹⁵
Holmes gets it.
A man was murdered on their campus for his political beliefs.
Pretending it didn’t happen or refusing to honor him sends the message that silencing conservatives through violence is acceptable.
“It would show people that even if we don’t agree, UVU is not going to condone murder,” Holmes explained.¹⁶
The “unity” lie leftists always tell
Student protester Levi Colby claimed he wants “unity” on campus.
Then in the same breath, he called Charlie Kirk “a very racist, bigoted man” and declared that a memorial honoring him “would be a memorial for hatred.”¹⁷
That’s always how it works with the Left.
They demand unity while spewing hatred at anyone who disagrees with them.
They call for tolerance while trying to erase conservatives from existence.
They preach acceptance while threatening to vandalize memorials for murder victims.
Senator Dan McCay launched a fundraiser for Kirk’s memorial that’s raised over $122,000.¹⁸
The proposed design is incredibly modest — two chairs, a table, a Bible, and a microphone.
No statue of Kirk.
No giant monument.
Just a simple reminder of the man who was murdered for exercising free speech.
Even that is too much for leftist students to tolerate.
What this means for every conservative in America
The fight over Kirk’s memorial isn’t just about one campus in Utah.
This is a test case for whether conservatives are safe anywhere in America.
Before Kirk’s assassination, leftists tried to silence him through petitions and intimidation.
After his murder, they’re threatening to destroy any memorial honoring him.
The message is clear: We wanted you gone, and now that you’re dead, we’re going to erase every trace you existed.
Amanda Covington, co-chair of the memorial committee, said the university would “listen to community voices and carefully consider the many perspectives surrounding this memorial.”¹⁹
But how exactly do you compromise with people openly threatening criminal vandalism?
How do you find middle ground with activists who believe murder victims don’t deserve memorials if they held conservative views?
You don’t.
The university needs to build the memorial exactly as planned and prosecute anyone who touches it.
Arrest them.
Charge them.
Expel them.
Make it crystal clear that threatening violence against memorials for murder victims carries real consequences.
Because if Utah Valley University caves to these threats, every leftist on every campus will know the playbook works.
Threaten violence, and universities will surrender.
That’s how conservatives end up silenced — or worse, dead — for simply speaking their minds.
President Trump designated multiple gangs and cartels as terrorist organizations after Kirk’s assassination.
Vice President JD Vance said at Kirk’s memorial that unity can only come “after climbing the mountain of truth” about which side promotes political violence.²⁰
The truth is staring everyone in the face.
Leftist students tried to silence Kirk before his murder.
Someone killed him.
Now those same students are threatening to vandalize his memorial.
They learned nothing because they got exactly what they wanted — Charlie Kirk permanently silenced.
Unless universities and law enforcement make examples of these vandalism threats, more conservatives will die.
