Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has been making headlines since President Trump nominated her for the crucial intelligence position.
The former Democratic presidential candidate has faced intense opposition from her former party members who view her as a traitor.
And Tulsi Gabbard just received a terrifying death threat that has both Democrats and Republicans stunned.
Georgia man arrested for threatening to kill Gabbard and her family
A 24-year-old Georgia man was arrested after making explicit death threats against Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and her family.
Federal authorities took Aliakbar Mohammad Amin of Lilburn, Georgia, into custody Friday following a disturbing series of messages and images he allegedly sent targeting Gabbard.
The FBI investigation revealed Amin sent multiple chilling threats between March 29 and April 1, just weeks after Gabbard’s Senate confirmation.
“You and your family are going to die soon,” read one of the threats, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Northern Georgia.
Another message stated, “I will personally do the job if necessary,” while a third warned, “Prepare to die, you, Tulsi, and everyone you hold dear. America will burn.”
Federal investigators discovered the threats included social media posts showing a firearm pointed directly at Gabbard, as well as a second image targeting both Gabbard and her husband.
Federal prosecutors taking the case seriously
Interim U.S. Attorney Richard S. Moultrie Jr. made it clear that these types of threats cross the line from political discourse to criminal activity.
“Threatening to harm public officials is a criminal act that cannot be excused as political discourse,” Moultrie stated. “Our Office, in coordination with our law enforcement partners, will vigorously prosecute individuals who commit these acts of violence.”
Amin has been charged under Title 18, United States Code, Section 875, which covers interstate threats. A U.S. Magistrate has ordered that he remain in custody until trial.
Political tensions reach dangerous levels
The threats against Gabbard highlight the increasingly volatile political climate surrounding Trump administration nominees.
Gabbard has been a controversial figure ever since she left the Democratic Party in 2022, citing the party’s “wokeness” and “anti-white racism” as reasons for her departure.
Her nomination by President Trump to lead America’s intelligence community sparked immediate backlash from her former Democratic colleagues.
The death threats come just weeks after Senator John Fetterman announced he would be voting against Gabbard’s confirmation, despite his previous statements about making efforts to work with the Trump administration.
“I have met with most of the cabinet nominees and have carefully watched their confirmation hearings. After considering what’s at stake, I have voted against moving forward to the confirmation of Ms. Gabbard and Mr. Kennedy, and will be voting NO on their confirmations,” Fetterman posted on X.
Trump’s security team increases protection
Sources close to the administration indicate that security has been increased for all Cabinet nominees following the threats against Gabbard.
Political violence has seen a concerning rise in recent years, with attacks targeting figures on both sides of the aisle.
The threats against Gabbard represent a dangerous escalation at a time when the new Trump administration is still working to fill key positions.
For her part, Gabbard has remained focused on her work at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, refusing to let the threats derail her mission to reform America’s intelligence community as President Trump has directed.
This incident comes just days after President Trump and President Zelensky traded barbs over peace negotiations in Ukraine, highlighting the tense global situation Gabbard now oversees in her intelligence role.
The case against Amin is being prosecuted by federal authorities, who appear determined to make an example of anyone threatening violence against government officials.
