Trump gave West Point one order that sent woke leftists into an absolute meltdown

The woke mob thought they’d won the war on American history.

They spent years tearing down statues and erasing the past like some kind of cultural Taliban.

But Trump just gave West Point one order that sent these history-hating leftists into an absolute meltdown.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth restores Robert E. Lee portrait at West Point

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth just restored a portrait of Robert E. Lee to the West Point library, right where it hung for 70 years before the post-George Floyd woke brigade got their hands on it.

Back in 2020, some congressionally mandated commission – packed with the usual suspects who think America’s founding was a mistake – ordered the removal of anything that might "commemorate or memorialize the Confederacy."

Translation: they wanted to erase parts of American history.

But Trump’s team isn’t playing that game.

"At West Point, the United States Military Academy is prepared to restore historical names, artifacts, and assets to their original form and place," Army communications director Rebecca Hodson told The New York Times. "Under this administration, we honor our history and learn from it – we don’t erase it."

The 20-foot portrait shows Lee in his Confederate uniform with a slave guiding his horse in the background – a detail that probably has the diversity consultants reaching for their smelling salts.

But here’s what the history erasers don’t want you to know: Lee was a West Point graduate who served as superintendent of the academy from 1852 to 1855.

He resigned his commission after Fort Sumter and became the Confederacy’s most successful general.

After the war ended, his Virginia estate was turned into Arlington National Cemetery – where American heroes are still buried today.

The portrait was originally hung in the West Point library in 1952 in honor of the 100th anniversary of Lee becoming superintendent.

But none of that mattered to the woke commission that decided Lee’s very existence was too problematic for future officers to see.

Leftists lose their minds over restoration of American history

As you’d expect, the Left is handling this about as well as vampires handle sunlight.

Social media is melting down with the usual suspects screaming about "racism" and "white supremacy" because apparently acknowledging that Robert E. Lee existed is now a hate crime.

These are the same people who think teaching accurate history is "literally violence" but removing centuries of American heritage is "progress."

They spent four years under Biden systematically scrubbing anything that didn’t fit their narrow worldview.

Military bases got renamed, statues got toppled, and historical artifacts got shoved into storage like dirty secrets.

The message was clear: if you fought for the Confederacy, you never existed.

Never mind that understanding all of American history – the good, the bad, and the complicated – is exactly what future military leaders need.

Look, here’s what’s really going on

The woke Left’s war on American history was never about "justice" or "healing."

It was about control.

They figured if they could erase enough of the past, they could rewrite it entirely.

No more complicated figures like Lee – a man who opposed secession but felt loyalty to his home state of Virginia.

No more acknowledging that America’s story includes people who made difficult choices in impossible times.

Just a sanitized version where everyone fits neatly into "good guy" and "bad guy" categories.

But Trump’s restoration of the Lee portrait sends a clear message: we’re done letting historical illiterates decide what Americans can and can’t learn about their own country.

For folks who believe America’s military officers should understand the full scope of their profession’s history, this is exactly the kind of backbone we’ve been waiting for.

The Left spent years convinced they’d won this battle permanently.

They thought once Trump was out of office, their cultural revolution could continue without opposition.

Well, surprise – Americans who actually love their country’s history just took back West Point.

And you can bet this is just the beginning.

The same crowd that cheered when they ripped down Confederate monuments is now discovering that elections have consequences.

Trump promised to end the war on American history, and he’s delivering.

Whether it’s restoring portraits at West Point or defending the names of military bases, this administration understands something the woke Left never figured out: you can’t build a strong future by erasing your past.

The history erasers had their moment.

Now it’s over.
