Tom Homan has been cracking down on sanctuary cities across America.

But he wasn’t prepared for what happened next.

And Tom Homan got one nasty surprise when these Democrat governors made this unthinkable threat.

Sanctuary state leaders throw down the gauntlet

The Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration has sent shockwaves through Democrat-controlled states.

Tom Homan’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have been conducting massive raids in sanctuary cities across the country.

These operations have netted hundreds of criminal illegal aliens who had been protected under Joe Biden’s open border policies.

But some Democrat governors are fighting back in the most brazen way imaginable.

During a contentious congressional hearing this week, three prominent Democrat governors made headlines with their defiant rhetoric.

The drama unfolded when Florida Democrat Representative Maxwell Frost posed a hypothetical question to the panel.

Frost asked what the governors would do if Tom Homan showed up at their doors to arrest them.

New York and Illinois governors issue bold challenges

New York Governor Kathy Hochul didn’t hesitate with her response.

"If Tom Homan comes to Albany to arrest me, I’ll say ‘go for it,’" Hochul declared boldly.

She claimed that Homan couldn’t intimidate her because she’s a governor.

"You can’t intimidate a governor," Hochul barked.

The New York governor proceeded to rant about threats to democracy.

"What is this country coming to? When people can threaten us on social media and on cable news and try to stop us from doing our jobs," she whined.

Hochul claimed that ICE enforcing the law was "an assault on our democracy."

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker wasn’t about to be outdone by his New York counterpart.

"If Tom Homan were to come to try to arrest me, I can say first of all that he can try," Pritzker responded.

He then positioned himself as a protector of illegal aliens in his state.

"I will stand in the way of Tom Homan going after people who don’t deserve to be frightened in their communities," Pritzker declared.

The Illinois governor went even further, claiming he would rather be arrested than see immigration enforcement in his state.

"I would rather that he came and arrested me than do that to the people of my state," he concluded.

Minnesota governor takes a different approach

But not every Democrat governor was eager to challenge Homan directly.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who served as Kamala Harris’s running mate in 2024, took a much more cautious stance.

When faced with the same hypothetical question, Walz completely avoided giving a direct answer.

Instead, he called for cooperation between different levels of government.

"We have a responsibility to the American public to work together," Walz said diplomatically.

He criticized the idea of threatening elected officials with arrest.

"Threatening arrest on elected officials, congressman, it doesn’t help any of us," Walz added.

The former vice presidential candidate clearly wanted no part of the confrontation his fellow Democrats were seeking.

California governor joins the fray

The tensions between Trump administration officials and Democrat governors have been building for days.

California Governor Gavin Newsom had already issued his own challenge to Homan earlier this week.

During a television interview, Newsom dared the Border Czar to follow through on his threats.

"Come after me, arrest me. Let’s just get it over with, tough guy," Newsom taunted.

He accused the Trump administration of engaging in "bloviating" on immigration issues.

"I don’t give a damn. But I care about my community, I care about this community," Newsom said.

The California governor demanded that Homan arrest him if he was serious about his threats.

Trump weighs in on the controversy

President Trump himself has now entered the fray over these gubernatorial challenges.

During a press conference, Trump was asked about Newsom’s dare to be arrested.

The President said Homan should take the California governor up on his offer.

Trump called Newsom "a nice guy" but added that he’s "grossly incompetent."

The President’s comments suggest he supports aggressive enforcement even against high-profile Democrat officials.

Border Czar clarifies his position

Tom Homan made his position perfectly clear.

He shot down reports that he had directly threatened to arrest specific governors.

Homan claimed that the media was trying to twist what he was saying.

He warned that anyone who tried to obstruct ICE agents from enforcing immigration law could be arrested.

The Border Czar said that no one is above the law, including elected officials.

But he also noted that the governors in question had not yet crossed any legal lines.

The bigger picture emerges

This confrontation represents a much larger battle over immigration policy in America.

On one side, you have the Trump administration working to enforce existing immigration law.

Tom Homan and his ICE agents are simply doing their jobs by removing criminal illegal aliens from American communities.

On the other side, you have Democrat governors who seem more concerned about protecting foreign nationals than American citizens.

These governors are essentially declaring themselves above federal law when it comes to immigration enforcement.

The American people delivered a clear mandate in November when they elected Donald Trump to secure the border.

These Democrat governors are standing in direct opposition to the will of the voters.

Their theatrical challenges to Tom Homan represent political grandstanding at its worst.

While they posture for the cameras, criminal illegal aliens continue to threaten American communities.

The contrast between Tim Walz’s cautious approach and the bold challenges from other governors is telling.

Even some Democrats recognize that picking a fight with federal law enforcement is a losing battle.

But governors like Hochul, Pritzker, and Newsom seem determined to make themselves martyrs for the illegal alien cause.

The American people will ultimately judge whether these governors are defending democracy or obstructing justice.
