The joke was on Stephen Colbert after this praise of Big Media turned out to be his biggest laugh line

Unfortunately, the days of Johnny Carson ending our evenings are long gone.

In his place are a cavalcade of unfunny late night hosts pushing propaganda instead of cracking wise.

And now, the joke was on Stephen Colbert after his praise of this Big Media outlet turned out to be his biggest laugh line in ages.

The rise and fall of CNN

CNN launched in the summer of 1980 out of Ted Turner’s headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.

The concept of a 24/7 news network was revolutionary and had never been seen before.

But even at launch, CNN was biased toward the Left.

And despite claims of being the self-proclaimed “most trusted name in news,” CNN has only moved further to the radical Left and doesn’t do nearly as good of a job hiding their bias as they used to.

Think back to former President Donald Trump’s CNN townhall back in May of last year.

Kaitlan Collins was tapped to moderate the townhall in hopes her performance would launch her as the newest CNN anchor and host.

In her woke zeal, Collins was quick to cut off Trump with left-wing talking points, pushed debunked conspiracy theories and was routinely corrected by the former President when spouting inaccuracies disguised as facts.

The townhall was a mess and Collins was roundly criticized for her performance.

However, CNN still promoted her to the primetime lineup, with the 9pm slot for her show, The Source

Collins was recently on another major platform, and it didn’t go any better for the 32-year-old, so-called “journalist.”

Stephen Colbert was surprised when he accidentally stumbled upon a joke

Earlier this week, Kaitlan Collins was a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

For some reason Collins was on the comedy show to talk about the current state of the Presidential race – because, you know, that’s funny – and prop up the Harris-Walz ticket.

But the interview did get the most genuine laugh Colbert has received in months, if not years – however, it was entirely accidental.

“I know you guys are objective over there, you just report the news as it is . . .” Colbert started his question.

But the host was cut off as his audience abruptly erupted in laughter, believing Colbert must have been practicing sarcasm.

Of course, he wasn’t.

“Oh, no, I know, CNN makes (unintelligible), I know . . .” Colbert stammered.

Collins was clearly annoyed and possibly offended by the audience’s honest reaction to CNN being called, “objective.”

“Was that supposed to be a laugh line,” Collins responded with a phony laugh.

Colbert, being caught between a rock and a hard spot, decided to play up the accidental funny.

“It wasn’t supposed to be – but ahhh – I guess it is,” Colbert said.

Colbert, Collins, and CNN were roasted online after the clip went viral.

Barstool Sports founder and owner, Dave Portnoy summed up the moment best.

“Stephen Colbert trying to say CNN is objective only to have his own crowd laugh at him is objectively funny,” the pizza-loving Portnoy said.

It’s 2024 and CNN is now the punchline of journalism.
