The Secret Service is supposed to be the best in the world at protecting presidents.
These are the people who take bullets for commanders-in-chief without hesitation.
And the Secret Service had one job at Trump’s golf club and made a catastrophic blunder.
Secret Service agent completely missed loaded Glock during bag search
Here’s a story that’ll make your blood boil – and it happened just last month while President Trump was playing golf at his Washington, D.C. club.
A club member walked right through Secret Service security checkpoints carrying a loaded Glock handgun in his bag on August 31st.
The kicker? An agent actually searched the bag and somehow missed a loaded pistol sitting right there.
You read that right – a trained Secret Service agent put their hands on a bag containing a loaded weapon and came up empty.
The club member had to tell them about the gun himself later that day because he realized he’d forgotten it was in there.
Think about that for a second. The guy carrying the gun had to remind the Secret Service that he was armed because their crack security team couldn’t spot a Glock during a bag search.
This isn’t some tiny derringer we’re talking about – it’s a full-size Glock handgun with ammunition ready to go.
The whole thing happened while Trump was on the property, which means the Secret Service’s security perimeter had been breached by someone they completely failed to screen properly.
According to RealClearPolitics, the club member was described as "cooperative" with law enforcement, which is Washington speak for "thank God this wasn’t someone with bad intentions."
The agent responsible for the bag search? They’re now on administrative leave while the Secret Service tries to figure out how their people managed to miss a loaded firearm during what should be routine security screening.
This comes after the Butler, Pennsylvania assassination attempt
Look, we’re not even a full year out from the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, where another "security professional" let a gunman get close enough to graze Trump’s ear with a bullet.
That was supposed to be the wake-up call that made the Secret Service get their act together.
Instead, we’ve got agents who can’t spot loaded weapons during bag searches at Trump’s own golf club.
The club member "was never in close physical proximity to the president’s location at any point," according to Secret Service spokeswoman damage control, but that’s missing the point entirely.
The point is that their security screening failed so completely that an armed person made it through multiple checkpoints without anyone noticing.
What happens when it’s not a forgetful club member but someone who actually means harm?
Secret Service Director Sean Curran and Deputy Director Matt Quinn had to make a special trip to the golf course last week to review their screening procedures for cars, bags, and people.
That’s bureaucrat speak for "we screwed up so badly that the bosses had to come down and figure out what went wrong."
Here’s what this really tells us
You want to know what this story is really about? It’s about an agency that’s putting the President’s life at risk through sheer incompetence.
The Secret Service used to be the gold standard for protective services around the world. Foreign dignitaries would specifically request American Secret Service protection because they were that good.
Now they’re missing loaded guns during bag searches and letting snipers set up on rooftops within range of presidential events.
This isn’t about hurt feelings or professional pride – this is about Donald Trump potentially getting killed because his security team can’t handle basic screening procedures.
A loaded Glock isn’t exactly easy to hide. It’s got weight, it’s got bulk, and it’s made of metal. Any competent search should have found it immediately.
But here’s the thing that should really scare you – Trump’s been going to this particular golf club regularly since taking office because it’s close to the White House.
That means the Secret Service has had plenty of opportunities to get their procedures right at this location.
They know the layout, they know the routine, and they know exactly what they’re supposed to be looking for.
And they still managed to let an armed person walk right through their security setup.
The club member being "cooperative" and "forgetting" about his gun is irrelevant. What matters is that the people paid to protect the President of the United States are failing at their life-or-death responsibility.
If they’re missing obvious threats like loaded handguns in bags, what else are they missing that could get Trump killed?
The White House is standing by the Secret Service, with press secretary Karoline Leavitt saying that "in the past he has said he trusts USSS and the job they do to protect him."
But trust has to be earned through competence, and right now the Secret Service is putting Trump’s life in danger through their failures.
This isn’t about politics – it’s about keeping the President alive. And based on what we’re seeing, these people are one mistake away from a national tragedy.
The next "forgetful club member" might not be so cooperative about announcing what they’re carrying. And when that happens, the Secret Service’s incompetence could cost us everything.
