The Left found a new way to sabotage President Trump.
They're weaponizing lawsuits to undermine national security.
And Secret Service agents sounded the alarm on this surprising threat against Trump by Democrats.
President Trump announced plans to build a $300 million, 90,000-square-foot ballroom at the White House — funded entirely by private donations.
The project would end the practice of erecting massive tents on the South Lawn that destroy the grass and create the first proper event space to host state dinners for 1,000 guests.
Trump demolished the historic East Wing in October and began underground work on a site that once housed the presidential emergency operations bunker.
But now Democrats are trying to shut down construction through a frivolous lawsuit — and the Secret Service just exposed how dangerous that really is.
Where was this outrage when Obama spent $376 million renovating the White House?
Here's what Democrats don't want you to remember.
Barack Obama oversaw a massive $376 million White House renovation starting in 2010 that lasted four years.
CNN and Bloomberg News reported on Obama's project, which gutted and replaced heating, cooling, electrical, fire alarm, and security systems throughout the East and West Wings.
Workers tore through walls and ceilings to replace decades-old infrastructure that was "periodically failing," according to government reports.¹
Obama also converted the White House tennis court into a basketball court and his wife Michelle planted a 2,800-square-foot garden on the South Lawn.
Not a single lawsuit was filed demanding Obama halt construction.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation — now suing Trump — said nothing about Obama's $376 million renovation.
Now Trump wants to build a ballroom using private money and suddenly Democrats are acting like he's burning down the Constitution.
Democrat front group files bogus lawsuit to sabotage Trump's signature project
The National Trust for Historic Preservation filed a federal lawsuit demanding a judge immediately stop all ballroom construction.
The White House called them out as "a bunch of loser Democrats and liberal donors who are playing political games."²
The trust testified before House Democrats in November 2023, appearing before radical leftists like Representatives Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ), Teresa Leger Fernández (D-NM), and Melanie Stansbury (D-NM).
Their lawyer? Gregory Craig — who served as White House Counsel under Barack Obama.
Craig claims Trump's ballroom represents "the most substantial exterior alteration to the country's most recognizable and historically significant building since it was reconstructed after being burned during the War of 1812."³
That's rich coming from the guy who worked for the President who oversaw a $376 million renovation.
The trust is demanding Trump halt all work until he gets congressional approval, completes environmental reviews, and allows public comment periods.
That process could take years — conveniently running out the clock on Trump's presidency.
Democrats know Trump is delivering on his promise to modernize the White House and they can't stand watching him succeed where Obama just spent taxpayer money on utility upgrades.
Secret Service drops bombshell: stopping construction puts Trump at risk
Secret Service Deputy Director Matthew Quinn filed a sworn declaration that just destroyed the Democrats' lawsuit.
Quinn warned that contractors are racing to install temporary security measures at the demolition site and "any pause in construction, even temporarily, would leave the contractor's obligation unfulfilled" and "consequently hamper the Secret Service's ability to meet its statutory obligations and protective mission."⁴
Democrats are so obsessed with stopping Trump that they're willing to compromise presidential security.
The administration offered to brief Judge Richard Leon on classified security details in a private meeting — information too sensitive to share with the Democrat activists suing Trump.
The demolished East Wing sat on top of the presidential emergency operations bunker.
Halting construction leaves that critical infrastructure exposed and vulnerable.
Justice Department lawyers told the court that ballroom designs remain in progress, making the lawsuit premature.
National Park Service liaison John Stanwich revealed foundation work begins in January with above-ground construction not starting until April 2026 at the earliest.⁵
The administration plans to submit designs to the National Capital Planning Commission before vertical construction begins.
Government attorney Mark Widerschein argued the trust should wait until final plans are submitted, but Democrats aren't interested in letting the process work.
Trump delivers while Democrats obstruct
The National Park Service defended Trump's project by pointing out the alternative — erecting massive tents for state dinners — causes substantial damage to the White House lawn requiring constant expensive repairs.
The National Park Service's own 2000 Comprehensive Design Plan identified the need for a larger event space.⁶
Presidents have wanted this for decades but nobody had the vision or expertise to make it happen.
Trump is using his real estate background to deliver a project that's under budget, ahead of schedule, and funded entirely by private donations.
He preserved historic items from the demolished East Wing including stone columns, doors, historic fencing, light fixtures, and an IM Pei-designed pergola for incorporation into the new building.
When Obama renovated, Democrats celebrated his "investment in infrastructure."
When Trump builds something transformative, Democrats file lawsuits claiming he's destroying history.
The Secret Service already exposed how reckless this lawsuit is by warning it could compromise presidential security.
They can't beat Trump at the ballot box. They can't stop his agenda through legislation. So now they're weaponizing activist judges and frivolous lawsuits to sabotage his presidency.
And they're willing to gamble with presidential security to score cheap political points against a President who's actually getting things done.
