The Left’s plan to infiltrate red state classrooms just hit a brick wall in Oklahoma.
One state superintendent decided he’d had enough of woke teachers trying to poison young minds with radical ideology.
And Oklahoma Superintendent Ryan Walters created one teacher test that has Democrats scrambling for their lawyers.
Walters partners with PragerU to weed out leftist teachers
Oklahoma Superintendent for Public Instruction Ryan Walters isn’t messing around when it comes to protecting students from left-wing indoctrination.
He just launched the first-of-its-kind teacher certification assessment designed specifically to keep "woke indoctrinators" out of Oklahoma classrooms.
The controversial test, developed in partnership with conservative media company PragerU, targets teachers relocating from liberal strongholds like California and New York who want to work in Oklahoma schools.
"We will not allow these leftists’ plans and schemes to take place here in Oklahoma," Walters told CNN. "They are trying to warp the minds of our kids to turn them into social justice warriors, instead of kids that are getting the most of their god given talents to go get a good job, to go live a fulfilling life."¹
The timing couldn’t be more perfect – the assessment launched just as Oklahoma school districts opened their doors for the new school year.
Teachers who don’t pass this ideological screening won’t receive teaching certificates to work in public schools this year.
And Walters made it crystal clear that he’s the final authority on who gets certified.
"Every teacher that teaches in the state of Oklahoma will have to have a certificate that goes through my office. It has my signature on it. So that those will not move forward until this is done," Walters explained.²
The test exposes what liberals really believe about America
The 50-question multiple-choice assessment doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to basic American values and biological reality.
One question asks teachers to identify which chromosome pairs determine biological sex – something that should be elementary knowledge but has become controversial thanks to transgender ideology.
"You’re gonna teach that there’s biological differences between males and females, period," Walters stated. "You’re going to teach American history and use primary source documents, not pushing a left-wing agenda on to our kids."³
Other questions test teachers’ understanding of fundamental American civics that apparently can’t be taken for granted anymore.
The assessment includes questions about why freedom of religion matters to America’s identity, the first three words of the Constitution, the two chambers of Congress, and the number of U.S. Senators.
PragerU CEO Marissa Streit said the test was designed to undo "the damage of gender ideology that is forced and taught through some of these other tests like the PRISM test" – referring to California’s training program that pushes LGBTQ+ propaganda on teachers.⁴
Walters specifically requested an assessment "that is more wholesome and in line with the Oklahoma parent body."
The test evaluates educators on their grasp of "American exceptionalism" and "fundamental biological differences between boys and girls" – concepts that used to be common sense but now trigger leftists.
Democrats launch predictable attacks on common-sense standards
Of course, Oklahoma Democrats immediately went into damage control mode over this reasonable requirement for teacher certification.
John Waldron, the Oklahoma Democrat Party chairman and former social studies teacher, predictably labeled the assessment a "loyalty test" from "an unaccredited agency."⁵
"You don’t sign up to teach schools because you hate America, that’s not who’s teaching in our classrooms," Waldron claimed.
But that’s exactly the problem – too many teachers from liberal states do hate America and want to indoctrinate children with anti-American propaganda.
Waldron characterized the test as "an insult to our profession," which tells you everything you need to know about how far the teaching profession has fallen.
At an Oklahoma State Board of Education meeting, board members tried to pressure Walters to let them review and approve the assessment before its release.
Walters refused to bow to their demands.
Local Democrats are already threatening legal challenges because they can’t stand the thought of teachers being required to understand basic American civics and biological reality.
They’ve had parents and teachers calling their offices in panic over having to demonstrate knowledge of fundamental American principles.
PragerU’s influence grows as Trump reshapes education
This partnership between Oklahoma and PragerU represents a watershed moment in the fight to reclaim American education from left-wing extremists.
PragerU content is now approved for use as teaching materials in public schools across ten states: Oklahoma, Alaska, Idaho, South Carolina, Louisiana, Arizona, New Hampshire, Montana, Texas, and Florida.
The California-based media company has built massive influence by creating educational content that actually promotes "American values of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" instead of woke nonsense.
PragerU has one million followers on X and claims its content gets watched 5 million times daily – proving there’s huge demand for education that doesn’t hate America.
President Donald Trump has embraced PragerU’s mission, making a surprise appearance at their December 2024 gala held at Mar-a-Lago.
"I want you tonight to think about all the good thing you are doing," Trump told PragerU supporters. "You are a spectacular group, and you are so successful."⁶
The Department of Education even worked with PragerU to create "The Road to Liberty" exhibit currently displayed in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.
Jonathan Zimmerman, who teaches history of education at the University of Pennsylvania, admitted this represents "a watershed moment" for PragerU, shifting from just providing educational materials to actually having "an explicit role" in certifying teachers.⁷
Oklahoma leads the fight against educational malpractice
While critics whine about Oklahoma’s teacher shortage and education rankings, Walters understands that quality matters more than quantity.
It’s better to have fewer teachers who actually believe in America than classrooms full of leftist activists poisoning young minds.
The assessment currently applies to teachers from California and New York, but Walters indicated it could expand to applicants from up to eight states in the future.
This makes perfect sense – states that have destroyed their own education systems with woke ideology shouldn’t be allowed to export their failed teachers to states that still value American principles.
California requires teachers to take the PRISM test that forces LGBTQ+ propaganda on educators, while Oklahoma now requires teachers who understand biological reality and American exceptionalism.
You’ve got California forcing teachers to promote gender confusion while Oklahoma requires them to understand basic biology and American history.
Walters summed up the stakes perfectly when he explained that California and New York have required teachers "to do things that are antithetical to our standards and values as a state."
This assessment ensures "that these teachers agree to teach what is required in the state of Oklahoma" instead of bringing their woke poison into red state classrooms.
Other conservative states should follow Oklahoma’s lead and implement their own ideological screening for teachers from liberal strongholds.
The fight for America’s children requires making sure the people educating them actually believe in the country they’re supposed to be serving.
