America's kids can't read or do math.
But the National Education Association has other priorities.
And now leaked documents reveal exactly what the NEA has been plotting behind closed doors.
The NEA Spent December Teaching "Neopronouns" While Students Failed
The National Education Association just wrapped up a three-day training conference called "Advancing LGBTQ+ Justice."
While reading and math scores hit historic lows, teachers spent December learning about "neopronouns" and "xeopronouns."
Defending Education obtained the PowerPoint presentations from the conference.
Out of 95 slides, 42 contained pride flags, trans flags, or rainbow graphics.¹
Teachers learned how to use pronouns like "xe," "xem," and "xyr" in the classroom.
The materials told attendees that "when someone calls you and tells you they are transitioning, do not question them about what they are doing."²
Republicans Called "Villains" Using "Racist Dog Whistles"
The training materials went beyond gender ideology.
They labeled conservatives as enemies of education.
"The right has exploited ignorance about transgender people and our lack of an affirmative, race-forward message to advance anti-trans attacks, further splinter and impugn the left, and sabotage progressives on a broad range of issues," the NEA handout stated.⁴
Another section instructed teachers to "name the villains who violate our values, expose their motivation of getting back into or holding onto power, and position them as a barrier to what our families need."⁵
The training accused Republicans of using an "arsenal of racist dog whistles" and "transphobic tropes" to "whip up fear."⁶
They're using member dues to train teachers that half the country are villains.
Erika Sanzi of Defending Education called it outrageous.
"The NEA is the largest teachers' union in the country, and they have decided to vilify half the country in an upcoming training," Sanzi told Fox News. "As far as they are concerned, the only reasons anyone could oppose their preferred ideologies are racism and transphobia and they name Republicans as villains, in writing!"⁷
The training materials focused heavily on "oppression."
One slide read: "Oppressed people's stories are deliberately kept out of the telling of the story of what we know as the United States of America. What we now call the United States of America is still an uncomfortable, awkward, and sometimes unsafe place to be a member of the LGBTQ+ community."⁸
Zero slides discussed how to teach reading or math.
Your Tax Dollars Funded This Radical Training
Paul Runko, Director of Strategic Initiatives at Defending Education, explained what this means for parents.
"Parents in our K-12 coalition, they realize that while these types of trainings that the NEA gives its members are meant to 'help' their membership, these ideologies have to trickle down into the classroom," Runko said.⁹
Teacher union dues pay for this garbage.
If you're a teacher and an NEA member, you funded a training that calls Republicans villains while students fall further behind.
The NEA used to negotiate pay and working conditions for teachers.
Now they spend resources training educators to be social justice activists.
This isn't happening in isolation.
Between 2022 and 2024, the NEA and American Federation of Teachers contributed more than $43 million for left-wing political advocacy.¹⁰
Ninety-seven percent of their political donations went to Democrats and liberal causes from 1990 through 2019.¹¹
Parents fighting back have a new weapon.
The Supreme Court gave them one this summer in Mahmoud v. Taylor.
"If parents see any of the materials like the NEA was training their membership in, if they see anything like this in their schools, they can request their child be opted out on religious grounds," Runko explained.¹²
Runko encouraged teachers outraged by these materials to look for alternative unions.
"As much as we can tell, it's union member dues that pay for the NEA to put on trainings like this. So if you're a teacher and a member of the NEA, you wouldn't want your dues to be paying for a training like this," Runko said.¹³
President Trump promised to dismantle the Department of Education and return power to states.
The NEA's latest scandal shows exactly why that's necessary.
When the largest teachers union in America spends member dues attacking half the country while students can't read, something's broken beyond repair.
