Democrats have completely lost touch with reality when it comes to public safety.
Their knee-jerk opposition to basic law enforcement has reached new extremes.
And Maxine Waters made one wild claim about Trump that exposed how radical Democrats really are.
Waters claims Trump is provoking civil war with law enforcement actions
President Trump delivered on his campaign promise to restore law and order by taking decisive action across multiple fronts.
He placed Washington, D.C.’s police department under federal control and deployed National Guard troops to protect citizens from violent criminals.
He also ramped up immigration enforcement through ICE operations targeting dangerous illegal aliens.
Instead of celebrating these common-sense public safety measures, Democrats predictably lost their minds.
California Congresswoman Maxine Waters went completely off the rails during a visit to the Metropolitan Detention Center and Department of Homeland Security Field Office in Los Angeles.
Waters actually claimed that Trump was trying to provoke a civil war through his law enforcement actions.
"Words mean nothing, actions mean everything. Watch this, watch it very closely, ask a lot of questions. Focus those cameras on everything that is going on, because this president is trying to lead us into what could be called a civil war," Waters exclaimed.¹
The 86-year-old congresswoman has made similar extreme statements before, claiming in March 2025 that she was "worried that Trump is on the edge of creating a civil war."²
Her rhetoric was so extreme that even liberal media figures couldn’t defend it.
Liberal commentator calls out Democrat stupidity
Former MSNBC host Chris Matthews – hardly a Trump supporter – told the crew on Morning Joe that Democrats were making a massive political mistake.
Matthews understood that Trump was simply taking bold action to solve obvious problems that Democrats had ignored for years.
"Trump looks at the city visually like a real estate agent," Matthews explained to co-host Mika Brzezinski. "He wants to beautify the city like he’s doing at the White House with that ridiculous ballroom he’s putting in and getting rid of the Rose Garden. That’s Trump work. But I think it shows strength. I agree with you. I think this is a strength move against the big cities who are in a difficult situation on crime."³
Matthews then destroyed the Democrat talking point that crime is somehow going down while murder rates remain high.
"The murder rate, you can’t keep saying violent crime is down, but the murder rate is up," Matthews added. "To the average person, the murder rate is about life and death. You don’t brag about a rising murder rate."³
The former liberal host warned that Democrats were walking straight into a political trap by opposing Trump’s common-sense approach to public safety.
"And the Democrats are, I agree with you, Mika, they’re falling into the trap of defending what’s indefensible," Matthews concluded.³
Co-host Mika Brzezinski summed up the Democrat dilemma perfectly: "It’s a trap."³
Democrats expose their radical anti-law enforcement agenda
Waters’ unhinged response to basic law enforcement measures revealed everything Americans need to know about today’s Democrat Party.
While families were literally afraid to walk the streets in cities like Washington, D.C., Democrats like Waters were more concerned about attacking Trump than protecting innocent people.
The congresswoman’s "civil war" rhetoric showed just how far the party has drifted from mainstream American values.
Normal Americans understand that when crime is out of control, you deploy law enforcement to stop it.
When dangerous illegal aliens are terrorizing communities, you enforce immigration law.
Only radical leftists like Waters see federal law enforcement protecting citizens as some kind of provocation.
This isn’t the first time Waters has made extreme statements about Trump, but her latest comments perfectly encapsulate why Democrats lost so badly in 2024.
Americans voted for law and order, and Trump is delivering exactly what he promised.
