James Comey thought he was untouchable after years of escaping accountability.

The Deep State’s golden boy figured his connections would protect him forever.

And Jonathan Turley revealed one big problem that is bad news for James Comey.

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley dropped a bombshell during his appearance on Fox News that should have Comey’s lawyers working overtime.

The obstruction charge in Comey’s indictment isn’t just another slap on the wrist – it’s the legal sledgehammer that could end the former FBI Director’s freedom.

"The obstruction count is really intriguing. That suggests that there was conduct, besides obviously that false statement, and that’s what we really need to look at. An obstruction count can go from five to 10 years of potential sentencing," Turley explained during his "Special Report with Bret Baier" appearance.¹

Unlike Comey’s typical word games and selective memory lapses that have frustrated conservatives for years, this charge focuses on concrete actions that prosecutors believe crossed the line into criminal territory.

The Department of Justice isn’t messing around this time.

They’ve indicted Comey on charges of lying to lawmakers and interfering with a congressional probe – the exact kind of Deep State manipulation that Americans have been demanding accountability for since Trump took office.

Comey’s 2020 leak statement could be his downfall

Here’s where it gets really interesting for anyone who’s watched Comey dance around the truth for years.

Turley pointed out that Comey’s 2020 statement about an alleged leak presents a clear-cut question that can’t be twisted with his usual evasive tactics.

"With regard to that leak, either he did leak the information or cause someone to leak it, or he did not. And that is not a matter of interpretation," Turley stated.²

For folks who’ve watched Comey’s congressional performances over the years, this is music to their ears.

Remember how he would claim he couldn’t recall major events but somehow remembered the tiniest details when it suited his narrative?

Turley called out this exact pattern of behavior that has infuriated conservatives for years.

"Much of what people objected to with Comey over the years is that his answers were very evasive. He tended to say he didn’t remember things that you would think he would remember because they were rather momentous," Turley explained.³

The man who couldn’t remember authorizing leaks against President Trump suddenly had perfect recall about obscure procedural details.

That selective amnesia game doesn’t work when you’re facing federal obstruction charges.

The Steele Dossier chickens are finally coming home to roost

Look, here’s what’s really happening behind the scenes that should have every Deep State operative sweating bullets.

This indictment traces back to the CIA memo from July that exposed how Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan lied to Congress about the Steele Dossier’s influence on the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment.

The memo didn’t just suggest they were dishonest – it flatly challenged their sworn denials and showed that Brennan actually pushed to include the bogus dossier in the assessment.⁴

You know what this really means?

The same fabricated document that Hillary Clinton’s campaign paid for and used to weaponize the FBI against Trump is now the evidence that could send Comey to prison.

The beautiful irony here is that their own corruption is eating them alive from the inside.

For years, Americans have watched these unelected bureaucrats manipulate investigations, leak classified information, and lie to Congress without facing any consequences.

They thought they were above the law because they had the right political connections and media protection.

But President Trump’s return to power changed everything.

The days of Deep State immunity are over, and Comey’s indictment is just the beginning of the reckoning that’s coming for the swamp creatures who tried to destroy American democracy.

If convicted on the obstruction charge, Comey faces up to five years in prison according to official DOJ statements, though Turley noted the sentencing range could go from five to ten years depending on the specific obstruction conduct.⁵

That’s not just justice – that’s long overdue accountability for one of the most corrupt FBI Directors in American history.
