Jonathan Turley Revealed James Comey’s Shameless Hypocrisy With One Perfect Comparison

James Comey’s legal troubles are finally catching up with him.

The former FBI Director just entered a not guilty plea to charges of lying to Congress and obstruction.

And Jonathan Turley exposed James Comey’s crushing hypocrisy with one perfect comparison.

The irony was too rich for Turley to ignore

Legal scholar Jonathan Turley appeared on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show to break down Comey’s latest courtroom drama.

The irony wasn’t lost on him.

Comey – the same man who orchestrated a trap for Michael Flynn over allegedly lying to the FBI – now wants to claim he’s the victim of selective prosecution.

"This is Comey, who virtually trapped the former national security advisor of Donald Trump, who admitted that he sort of broke protocol and sent two guys over to Michael Flynn’s office to effectively sandbag him, and then charged him with lying," Turley explained to Hannity.¹

The Fox News legal analyst couldn’t hide his amazement at Comey’s audacity.

"So it’s really remarkable he could make this case with a straight face," Turley added.¹

Comey’s defense strategy reeks of desperation

Turley outlined exactly what Comey’s legal team plans to argue in court.

They want to convince a jury that prosecuting their client amounts to selective enforcement.

The argument goes that plenty of other government officials engage in similar conduct without facing criminal charges.

But Turley spotted the glaring problem with this defense immediately.

Comey built his entire reputation on being the FBI’s supposed straight shooter who held everyone else to impossible standards.

Now he wants special treatment when those same standards get applied to him.

The selective prosecution defense might work for some defendants.

But it falls apart when the person making the argument spent years selectively prosecuting others for the exact same behavior.

The timing couldn’t be more perfect

Turley also pointed out another layer of irony about Comey’s case.

The trial date is set for January 5th, 2026 – which happens to be the anniversary of a very significant meeting.

"That’s the anniversary of this infamous meeting where he and others briefed Obama, and they laid the foundations for the Russian investigation," Turley noted.¹

You couldn’t write a script with better dramatic timing.

The same date that Comey helped launch the bogus Russia investigation against Trump will now mark the beginning of his own reckoning in federal court.

Justice has a sense of humor after all.

Turley cut right to the heart of Comey’s legal situation.

"Either he’s lying or he’s not," Turley explained during his Hannity appearance.¹

The charges stem from Comey’s September 30, 2020 testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee about alleged leaks to reporters.

But what makes this case so rich in irony is Comey’s planned defense strategy.

According to Turley, Comey wants to argue that he’s being selectively prosecuted – that other officials engage in similar conduct without facing charges.

The problem? This is the same James Comey who built his career on selectively prosecuting others for identical behavior.

"This is Comey, who virtually trapped the former national security advisor of Donald Trump, who admitted that he sort of broke protocol and sent two guys over to Michael Flynn’s office to effectively sandbag him, and then charged him with lying," Turley explained.¹

The legal scholar couldn’t hide his amazement at the audacity.

"So it’s really remarkable he could make this case with a straight face," Turley added.¹

Turley called the situation "crushing ironies" – and he wasn’t exaggerating.¹

The Flynn comparison reveals everything you need to know

The Michael Flynn parallel that Turley highlighted cuts right to the heart of who James Comey really is.

Comey bragged about breaking protocol to send FBI agents to ambush Flynn in an informal interview.

No lawyers present, no Miranda warnings, no standard procedures followed.

Flynn got prosecuted for allegedly lying during that improper interrogation.

Now Comey wants mercy for his own lying allegations while simultaneously claiming the whole prosecution is unfair.

That’s not just hypocrisy – that’s the kind of shameless double standard that defines the Deep State mentality.

For guys like Comey, the rules only apply to their political enemies.

When they get caught breaking the same rules, suddenly it’s all about prosecutorial discretion and selective enforcement.

The American people deserve better from their law enforcement officials.

James Comey spent years positioning himself as the conscience of the FBI while conducting one of the most politically motivated investigations in modern history.

His upcoming trial won’t just determine his legal fate – it will serve as a final judgment on the weaponization of federal law enforcement against Donald Trump and his associates.
