Democrats are never going to let a crisis go to waste.
They are preparing to shred the Constitution in one blue state.
And Hawaii's governor just made one tyrannical power grab that should terrify every American.
Hawaii's HB2236 Would Give One Man the Power to Quarantine You, Seize Your Guns, and Suspend the Law
House Bill 2236 and Senate Bill 2151 are moving through both chambers of the Hawaii state legislature simultaneously – coordinated, companion bills advancing in lockstep.
The legislation explicitly cites COVID-19 as the justification for expanding emergency authority.
That alone tells you everything.
The powers these bills hand Democrat Governor Josh Green are not buried in legal footnotes – they are written out, black and white, in the text.
Green could quarantine anyone he believes "may have been exposed" to a communicable disease – not infected, not symptomatic, just suspected exposure.
He could send government officials onto your private property without your permission.
He could suspend existing laws – licensing protections, regulatory safeguards, consumer protections – for as long as he sees fit.
He could seize control of privately owned utilities, businesses, and critical infrastructure.
And here is what every gun owner in America needs to hear: the bill explicitly authorizes the governor to "regulate or prohibit the storage, transportation, use, possession" of firearms and ammunition during an emergency, with authority to "authorize the seizure and forfeiture."
Your legally owned guns can be seized the moment Green signs a declaration.
It's already happened once – after Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans police went door to door confiscating legally owned firearms from law-abiding residents under emergency authority.
Josh Green Gets to Decide When Josh Green Gets Emergency Powers
Every tyrant in history has loved emergency powers for the same reason.
They bypass any checks on their power.
Under these bills, Green "shall be the sole judge of the existence of the danger, threat, or circumstances giving rise to a declaration."
He can pull the trigger on a perceived threat – not an actual disaster, just his judgment that one might be coming.
Worse, the suspensions of law do not have to end when the emergency does. The text states explicitly that suspensions "may continue beyond the emergency period."
The emergency is over. Green's powers stay.
After COVID, at least 25 states passed laws reining in what governors could do with emergency declarations.
Kansas banned governors from seizing ammunition or restricting firearm sales. Montana locked in Second Amendment protections during declared disasters.
Hawaii is running the opposite direction – with both legislative chambers behind it.

The Supreme Court is already weighing Hawaii's "vampire rule" – the law barring firearms on all private property open to the public unless the owner posts explicit permission.
That case, Wolford v. Lopez, is before SCOTUS now, with the Trump administration backing the challengers.
Hawaii is stacking a second layer on top: emergency powers stripping gun rights entirely, written into permanent law, switched on by a governor who alone decides when the emergency clock starts.
The federal government has committed $5.5 billion toward pandemic preparedness. The WHO insists another pandemic is inevitable. American scientists are still running gain-of-function experiments on influenza.
Hawaii is not bracing for a disaster.
The state is pre-building the legal machinery so that when the next declared emergency arrives – real, exaggerated, or manufactured – the powers are already on the books and ready to activate.
Congress, the FBI, the CIA, and Germany's federal intelligence service have all confirmed COVID-19 was likely the product of lab manipulation.
The same scientific and government establishment that engineered the last crisis is now writing the laws to govern the next one.
California, New York, Illinois, Colorado – every state with a Socialist Democrat governor and a rubber-stamp legislature is going to see this bill the moment Hawaii's version passes.
Hawaii is where they're testing it first.
