Donald Trump has been reshaping Washington since taking office in January.
The latest changes coming to the administration are surprising even Washington insiders.
And now Donald Trump is reportedly about to make one jaw-dropping decision that will infuriate the Washington, D.C. Swamp.
President Donald Trump is preparing to fire his National Security Adviser Mike Waltz in what could be a major shakeup of his national security team, according to bombshell reporting from journalist Mark Halperin.
Halperin announced on his YouTube show 2Way TV that “the plan now by the White House” is to remove both Waltz and his deputy Alex Wong, citing three sources with knowledge of the situation.
“The plan is for it to happen soon, maybe this weekend,” Halperin revealed.
The news comes as Waltz has been embroiled in a major scandal since March, when he made a catastrophic error that exposed sensitive national security discussions to the media.
Waltz was one Trump cabinet selection that the Washington Swamp establishment seemed to have little problem with during his confirmation, as he is widely seen as aligned with the foreign policy establishment.
Unlike many of Trump’s America First appointees, Waltz has been seen as supporting sending more taxpayer dollars to Ukraine and has taken hawkish positions that raised eyebrows among Trump’s base.
In January, Waltz appeared on ABC’s “This Week” with host Jonathan Karl and shocked viewers by suggesting Ukraine should lower its draft age from 26 to 18 if the country wants more financial support from the United States.
“I will say, the other thing that we’re going to need to see is really stabilizing things on the battlefield. And one of the things that we’ll be asking of the Ukrainians is they have real manpower issues. Their draft age right now is 26 years old, not 18,” Waltz told Karl.
Waltz is also seen as supporting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s attempts to draw America into World War III with U.S.-backed strikes on Iran, again putting him at odds with Trump’s campaign promises to avoid foreign entanglements.
The “Signalgate” scandal erupted when Waltz inadvertently added Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg to a Signal chat containing 17 high-ranking administration officials discussing Houthi rebels in Yemen.
Goldberg wasted no time publishing the confidential digital messages in full at The Atlantic, generating weeks of negative press coverage for the Trump administration with the leak being dubbed Signalgate.
Trump initially stood by Waltz, reportedly because he didn’t want to give Goldberg the satisfaction of claiming a scalp from his administration.
However, Waltz’s reputation within the West Wing was irreparably damaged after his humiliating performance during a Fox News interview where he struggled to explain how the mistake happened.
“This has to do about competence, not ideology,” Halperin said of the decision to replace Waltz.
According to Halperin, real estate investor and Trump special envoy Steve Witkoff is the likely frontrunner to replace Waltz.
Halperin noted that while he believes Trump “has made up his mind” about firing Waltz, the president “could change his mind” and the exact timing remains uncertain.

Interestingly, Waltz appeared on Fox & Friends Thursday morning giving no indication that his job was in jeopardy.
The White House National Security Council has not responded to requests for comment on the report.
If confirmed, Waltz’s firing would represent the first major shakeup of Trump’s national security team since taking office in January.
For many Trump supporters who questioned Waltz’s appointment from the beginning, the move is long overdue.
Many in Trump’s base have criticized Waltz for pushing policies that seem more aligned with the previous administration than with Trump’s America First agenda.
The move demonstrates Trump’s commitment to surrounding himself with competent officials who can be trusted with America’s most sensitive security matters and who are fully aligned with his vision of putting American interests first.
Throughout his career, Trump has been known for his catchphrase “You’re fired” from his days hosting “The Apprentice,” and he hasn’t hesitated to remove officials who fail to meet his high standards.
By replacing Waltz, Trump would be sending a clear message to the warmongers in the Washington, D.C. Swamp.
Washington insiders are now watching closely to see who Trump selects as his next National Security Adviser and whether this signals a broader realignment of his foreign policy team.
