Americans are finally catching a break at the grocery store.
After four years of punishment at the checkout line, families can breathe easier.
And Donald Trump delivered one July 4th victory that left Biden’s legacy in shambles.
July 4th cookouts cost less for first time since Biden took office
For the first time in four years, Americans won’t have to choose between a decent Fourth of July barbecue and paying their bills.
The American Farm Bureau Federation just dropped some welcome news that’ll have families across the country firing up their grills with a little less stress.
A typical Independence Day cookout for 10 people – complete with cheeseburgers, pork chops, chicken, potato salad, fruit, and ice cream – will run about $70.92 this year.¹
That’s down 30 cents from the crushing $71.22 record high that families got hammered with in 2024 under Biden’s watch.
Sure, it’s still way higher than the $52.80 that people paid back in 2019 before the whole world went sideways.
But here’s the thing – prices are actually moving in the right direction for once.
Chicken breasts, pork chops, cheese, hamburger buns, and potato chips are all cheaper than they were last year.¹
Biden’s inflation record gets demolished
The numbers don’t lie about what families went through under Biden’s watch.
Remember when grocery shopping felt like getting mugged in broad daylight?
Those days of sticker shock that made you question whether you really needed to eat are becoming a thing of the past.
Inflation peaked at over 9 percent annually in June 2022 under Biden, crushing American families with the worst price increases in four decades.
"After years of sharp food inflation, prices for many Fourth of July staples are finally beginning to level out," the American Farm Bureau Federation admitted in their report.¹
Translation: Biden’s economic disaster is finally getting cleaned up.
Trump’s policies are already working
Pork chops saw the biggest drop this year, with prices falling nearly 9 percent to $14.13 for 3 pounds.¹
That’s not some accident or lucky break – that’s what happens when you have leadership that actually cares about working families instead of pushing radical green policies that drive up costs.
The corporate media keep trying to scare people about Trump’s tariffs supposedly crushing their budgets.
But the proof is right there in your grocery cart.
Americans are spending less, not more, under Trump’s economic leadership.
Even better news for families planning their holiday weekend – gas prices are at their cheapest summertime levels since 2021, according to the White House.²
Four years of economic torture under Biden
Let’s not forget the pain that Biden put American families through.
In 2022, cookout costs jumped a devastating $10 – that’s a 17 percent spike that had families scrambling to figure out how to celebrate America’s birthday without going broke.¹
By 2023, the damage kept piling up with costs hitting $67.73, forcing families to pay 17 percent more for hamburger buns, 5 percent more for potato salad, 4 percent more for ground beef, and 3 percent more for strawberries and ice cream than they did the year before.¹
Then 2024 rolled around and Biden managed to make things even worse, with costs climbing another 5 percent to that record-breaking $71.22.¹
Four straight years of getting hammered every time you tried to put food on the table.
The comeback is just getting started
What’s happening with cookout costs is just the beginning of Trump’s economic turnaround.
When families can afford to celebrate Independence Day without breaking the bank, that’s what real leadership looks like.
Biden spent four years making excuses while American families suffered.
Trump spent four weeks delivering results.
The American Farm Bureau Federation expects prices to keep stabilizing as supply chains improve and input costs continue dropping.¹
That’s the kind of trend that happens when you have a president who actually understands how the economy works instead of one who thinks printing more money solves everything.
So fire up those grills, America.
This Fourth of July, you can actually afford to celebrate freedom – and that’s something worth being grateful for.
