Democrats are ramping up their attacks on Donald Trump.
But their latest strategy is missing the target.
And Democrats started one vicious fight with Donald Trump that is doomed to fail.
Democrats turning fired federal employees into a sob story
Democrats and their media allies have decided that the pencil pushers in the Washington, D.C., Swamp losing their jobs is the way to pull on the heartstrings of voters.
Federal workers are being fired and offered buyouts as part of President Donald Trump’s plan to reduce the size of the federal government.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and his team at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have been painted as the villains by Democrats for their role in exposing waste, fraud, and abuse in federal spending.
Democrat members of Congress brought fired employees with them as special guests in Trump’s joint address to Congress.
These workers were supposed to show the dark side of Trump’s DOGE-inspired cuts.
Trump cut quite the contrast with the special guests he brought to the address compared to Democrats.
He invited the parents of slain Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, the widow of a New York City Police officer killed in the line of duty, and Payton McNabb, who suffered a traumatic brain injury playing volleyball against a biological male.
Democrats wanted fired federal employees to be seen as the victims of Trump’s attempt to slash government spending.
CNN contributor shreds the idea of federal employees being sympathetic figures
Republican strategist Scott Jennings argued that Democrats using fired federal employees as a “sob story that is not going to play” well with voters during a panel on CNN.
“Guess what? Republicans love it. And I will just say, I think the Democrats —” Jennings said about Trump’s joint address to Congress.
CNN political contributor David Axelrod, chief strategist to former President Barack Obama, interrupted him.
“Guess what? The country’s bigger than just Republican,” Axelrod interjected.
“I know. Well, he’s got over a 50% approval rating and your party’s got 21%. So he’s doing okay,” Jennings replied.
Jennings pointed out the foley of Democrats trying to use fired federal employees as a prop.
“I think dying on this hill of defending every single federal worker, that the idea that we can’t ever shrink the size of government because this sob story or that sob story that is not going to play with the American people,” Jennings explained.
He noted that Democrats didn’t show any sympathy when blue-collar workers lost their jobs when former President Joe Biden canceled the Keystone XL pipeline.
“Democrats gave no care whatsoever to the 10,000 people who lost their jobs when the big pipeline was canceled by Joe Biden, or the people who lost their businesses in the Covid shutdowns that went on and on and on, or the firefighters or the military that lost their jobs because they wouldn’t get the Covid vaccine. No care for that,” Jennings stated.
Federal employees are among the least sympathetic group of workers that Democrats could trot out in front of the camera after losing their jobs.
