The war on drivers isn’t slowing down.

In fact, it’s getting more creative – and more expensive.

And Democrats could use this anti-car scheme that will leave working Americans seeing red.

Democrats love importing anti-American ideas from foreign countries

A new report just exposed something most Americans have never heard of – but should be terrified about.

It’s called a workplace parking levy, and it’s exactly as awful as it sounds.¹

Democrats have a long history of copying the worst policies from overseas and cramming them down Americans’ throats.

They gave us congestion pricing from London.

Now they’re eyeing this workplace parking scheme that’s already hammering drivers in the United Kingdom and Australia.

Under this scheme, local governments can charge employers a fee for providing on-site parking to their workers.

Let that sink in for a moment.

We’re talking about punishing businesses that use their own property to help their employees get to work.

These aren’t companies taking up street parking or using public resources.

They’re providing a basic service to their workers on their own land – and getting financially hammered for it.

How the scam actually works

The workplace parking levy – or WPL as the bureaucrats love to call it – forces employers into an impossible choice.

Companies can either pay the government fee themselves and provide free parking as an employee benefit.

Or they can pass the cost along to workers who just want somewhere to park when they show up for their jobs.

Either way, it’s the government forcing businesses and workers into a financial corner.

The stated reasons will sound familiar to anyone who lived through the congestion pricing disaster in New York City.

Officials claim they want to reduce traffic, cut pollution, and encourage mass transit use.

But here’s the real reason – it’s about generating revenue that will supposedly go toward building more mass transit.

Right. Because government promises about how they’ll spend tax money always work out exactly as advertised.

The scheme is already spreading

Nottingham became the first city in the United Kingdom to implement this parking tax back in 2012.

Four cities in Australia jumped on the bandwagon starting in 1992 – Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, and Adelaide.

Glasgow recently decided against implementing the parking tax, but they’re still eyeing other ways to extract money from drivers.

The Scottish city is considering congestion pricing and even placing tolls on the currently free Clyde Tunnel.

Sound familiar?

It should, because these are the same tactics being used against American drivers right here at home.

America is already under attack

The report connected the dots that every driver needs to understand.

We’ve got speed cameras everywhere, often paired with artificially lowered speed limits designed to catch more drivers.

Congestion pricing hit Manhattan and shifted traffic onto the streets of Staten Island – solving nothing while generating millions in revenue.

Some cities already charge residents just to park on public streets anywhere in their own city.

Then there’s the vehicle miles traveled tax that governments keep floating – turning every car into a taxi meter while giving bureaucrats the power to track your every movement.

"There’s really no end to the ways that governments can take money out of the pockets of drivers," the report noted.

And you know what the worst part is?

They keep claiming it’s all about cleaner air and less traffic.

But as long as people keep driving – which they have to do to get to work, buy groceries, and live their lives – these politicians are happy to keep taking your money.

What this means for American workers

So here’s what’s really happening.

Democrats are already salivating over their next anti-car revenue scheme.

They’ve watched how workplace parking levies work in the UK and Australia – the same way they studied London’s congestion pricing before shoving it down New Yorkers’ throats.

This is the Democrat playbook: find the most punitive anti-car policies from foreign countries and import them to America.

Think about that for a second.

Some bureaucrat in a government office could soon have the power to charge your employer for letting you park at your own job.

Your boss will either have to pay the fee – cutting into money that could go toward raises or benefits – or pass the cost on to you.

Either way, you lose.

And it gets worse.

This scheme can actually pit companies against their own workers.

Imagine being told that your employer can no longer afford to provide free parking because the government is charging them for the privilege.

Now you’re looking at either paying to park at your own job or finding some other way to get to work.

The smart move right now

A recent analysis offered one piece of practical advice that every homeowner needs to hear.

"If you don’t have a driveway on your property already, I strongly encourage to install one as fast as possible."

Because once these schemes start spreading – and they will – having your own parking space might be the only way to avoid getting financially hammered just for owning a car.

The writing is on the wall.

Government officials have discovered that drivers are a captive audience.

People need to get to work, take their kids to school, and handle the basic tasks of daily life.

So politicians can keep piling on fees, taxes, and charges knowing that most people don’t have a choice but to pay up.

The workplace parking levy is just the latest example of bureaucrats getting between employers and employees to extract more money from working families.

And if we don’t start paying attention to these schemes, we’re going to wake up one day wondering how driving to work became so expensive that we can barely afford to do our jobs.
