Canada just took the first step toward criminalizing Scripture.
Democrats are taking notes.
Because Canada made one move to ban the Bible that should terrify every American.
Liberal MPs vote to eliminate religious protections
Canadian politicians voted night to strip religious exemptions from hate speech laws.
Liberal MPs on the justice committee approved a Bloc Québécois amendment gutting protections that have existed in Canada's Criminal Code for decades.
Section 319(3)(b) currently protects people expressing "in good faith" opinions based on religious texts.
The committee vote eliminates that protection from Bill C-9 — the Combatting Hate Act.¹
If this bill becomes law, a priest reading Romans 1 from the pulpit faces criminal charges.
A rabbi teaching traditional Jewish marriage law gets prosecuted.
An imam quoting the Quran on morality gets arrested.
Justice Minister Sean Fraser personally promised the Bloc Québécois he'd strip religious protections in exchange for their votes.²
The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops warned this "could place legitimate religious teaching and pastoral ministry at risk."³
More than 6,000 Canadians signed emergency petitions begging politicians to stop.⁴
Liberal MPs voted to silence them anyway.
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre warned the change would "criminalize sections of the Bible, Qur'an, Torah and other sacred texts."⁵
The bill still needs to pass third reading in the House of Commons and then the Senate before becoming law.
But the vote proves Canadian Liberals will sacrifice religious freedom to pass their agenda.
Democrats already declared war on the First Amendment
Tim Walz stood on a debate stage watched by 43 million Americans and declared "there's no guarantee to free speech on misinformation or hate speech."⁶
That's a lie.
The Supreme Court has ruled repeatedly there is no "hate speech" exception to the First Amendment.⁷
Hillary Clinton demanded Congress repeal Section 230 because America lost "total control" over online speech.⁸
Translation: the government can't censor enough people fast enough.
John Kerry called the First Amendment "a major block" to crushing "disinformation."⁹
A sitting U.S. official called Constitutional rights an obstacle to government power.
Let that sink in.
Rep. Jamie Raskin sent letters to Big Tech demanding they censor Americans talking about abortion, COVID, climate change, and elections.¹⁰
These people don't hide their agenda anymore.
Who decides what's "hate speech"? They do.
First, create a category called "hate speech" that sounds reasonable to ban.
Then expand "hate speech" to include anything that contradicts their agenda.
Question COVID lockdowns that destroyed small businesses? Hate speech.
Say men can't get pregnant? Hate speech.
Quote Leviticus on marriage? Hate speech.
Read Paul's letters in church? Criminal charges.
Canada is racing toward that reality right now.
The Archdiocese of Edmonton warned the law will "chill ordinary religious speech and create uncertainty for homilies, catechesis, pastoral counselling, marriage preparation, youth ministry, and online evangelization."¹¹
Every aspect of religious life would become subject to government approval.
Preach the wrong sermon? Prosecuted.
Counsel someone according to Scripture? Arrested.
Post a Bible verse on social media? The police come knocking.
Democrats are watching Canada's playbook and drafting their own version.
Biden already built the censorship machine
The Biden-Harris administration pressured Facebook to censor COVID content "including humor and satire."¹²
Not dangerous misinformation — humor and satire.
Mark Zuckerberg later admitted "government pressure was wrong" after the damage was done.¹³
But here's what Zuckerberg didn't say: Facebook complied because they were terrified of government retaliation.
The government doesn't need to pass laws banning speech.
They just threaten the platforms until Silicon Valley does their dirty work.
Biden's administration perfected this model with COVID.
Democrats want to expand it to religion.
And Canada just showed them exactly how to do it.
Your pastor could be next
Religious exemptions protecting clergy from hate speech prosecution are one vote away from elimination in Canada.
The committee voted.
The House of Commons votes next.
Then the Senate.
Democrats don't believe the First Amendment protects religious speech they find offensive.
Tim Walz thinks quoting the Bible is fair game for prosecution if Democrats label it "hate speech."
Hillary Clinton wants to give government total control over online religious content.
John Kerry views Constitutional protections as obstacles to eliminating dissent.
These aren't fringe activists — they're Democrat Party leaders who were one election away from the White House.
Canada is eliminating religious freedom protections right now.
Democrats are planning the same assault on American churches, synagogues, and mosques.
The First Amendment is all that stands between your pastor and a prison cell.
And Democrats just told the world they view it as a problem to be solved.
