Adam Schiff tried to start one fight with Trump that he instantly regretted

Adam Schiff has been at war with Donald Trump for years.

But the California Senator just made his biggest tactical error yet.

And Adam Schiff tried to start one fight with Trump that he instantly regretted.

Schiff tries to lecture Trump about priorities during government shutdown

Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) thought he spotted the perfect opening to attack President Trump.

With the government shutdown stretching into its third week, Schiff figured he could score easy political points by portraying Trump as distracted and unfocused.

The former House impeachment manager fired off what he clearly believed was a devastating comeback to Trump’s latest Truth Social post about the Ukraine impeachment.

"The government has been shut down for nearly half a month," Schiff posted on X. "Insurance costs are doubling for millions of families. And you’re still trying to rewrite history on the first bipartisan vote to impeach a U.S. president? Put down your phone and focus on ending the Trump shutdown."

But Schiff’s condescending tone and finger-wagging lecture revealed something he probably didn’t intend to broadcast.

The Senator who spent years obsessed with taking down Trump just showed he’s still completely consumed by their old battles instead of focusing on actual governance.

Trump’s investigation threat has Democrats scrambling for cover

What triggered Schiff’s meltdown was Trump’s Sunday Truth Social post calling the Ukraine impeachment "a far bigger Illegal Hoax than Watergate."

"I sincerely hope the necessary authorities, including CONGRESS, are looking into this!" Trump wrote. "Adam ‘Schiffty’ Schiff was sooo dishonest and corrupt. So many laws, and protocols, were violated, and just plain broken!!!"

The message appears to suggest Trump’s Department of Justice may be narrowing its investigative focus on Schiff, who is reportedly under investigation for potential mortgage fraud.

Schiff hasn’t been indicted yet, but the walls are closing in after New York Attorney General Letitia James was charged with bank fraud on October 9.

Three weeks before that, former FBI Director James Comey got hit with false statement and obstruction charges for his allegedly false 2020 testimony about the Trump-Russia investigation on September 25.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump had privately pressured Attorney General Pam Bondi to prosecute all three – Comey, James, and Schiff.¹

Now those prosecutions are moving forward, and Schiff is clearly feeling the heat.

Here’s what Schiff’s desperate response really reveals

Look, Schiff’s "put down your phone" lecture tells you everything you need to know about where Democrats’ heads are right now.

Instead of working on solutions to the government shutdown he’s complaining about, Schiff chose to spend his time crafting snarky social media comebacks to Trump.

That’s rich coming from someone lecturing the President about priorities.

But here’s what’s really happening – Schiff knows he’s next in line for indictment, and he’s desperately trying to frame any charges as political persecution rather than legitimate accountability.

The timing of his outburst gives it away completely.

Republicans have been trying to negotiate a clean continuing resolution to reopen the government, while Senate Democrats keep blocking it with demands for partisan healthcare provisions.

Yet Schiff wants to blame Trump for a shutdown that Democrats are actively prolonging.

For folks who remember Schiff’s dishonest performance during the impeachment circus, this latest display of hypocrisy shouldn’t come as a shock.

The man who spent years weaponizing Congress against Trump is now whining that Trump might actually hold him accountable for it.

What a concept – actions having consequences in Washington, D.C.
