His comments came after news broke that a third Chinese national had been caught attempting to smuggle dangerous biological materials into America.

Yunqing Jian, who worked at the University of Michigan, and her boyfriend Zunyong Liu, a researcher from China, were charged with smuggling Fusarium graminearum through Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
This particular fungus attacks wheat, barley, corn, and rice crops while producing toxins harmful to both humans and livestock.
But the concerning pattern didn’t stop there.
Authorities also arrested Chengxuan Han, a PhD student from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, China.
Han allegedly sent four separate packages containing concealed biological materials to individuals at a University of Michigan laboratory during 2024 and 2025.
When customs officials questioned Han at Detroit Metropolitan Airport, they discovered she had deleted the contents of her electronic devices just three days before arriving in America.
China’s multi-front assault on American society
