Nancy Mace asked Ilhan Omar on the House floor what it was like being married to her brother – and Omar had no answer.
Now JD Vance has confirmed the White House believes she committed immigration fraud and is working with Stephen Miller on how to prosecute it.
And a foreign government just stepped forward and said they will finish the job America keeps refusing to start.
Somaliland Is Demanding Ilhan Omar Be Extradited and Deported
The Republic of Somaliland posted publicly the moment Vance's confirmation dropped: "Deportation? Please you're just sending the princess back to her kingdom. Extradition? Say the word."
That is a government making a formal offer – and attaching a deal that makes the whole thing impossible to ignore.
Somaliland is offering the United States a military base at Berbera port on the Gulf of Aden, exclusive access to lithium, coltan, and rare earth minerals critical to American defense manufacturing, and a strategic foothold at the entrance to the Red Sea.
All they want in return is official U.S. recognition as a sovereign state.
Israel gave it to them in December 2025 – the first nation on earth to do so.
Congress introduced H.R. 3992, the Republic of Somaliland Independence Act, in June 2025, and it has been sitting in the House Foreign Affairs Committee ever since.
Berbera sits at the Bab al-Mandab Strait – the chokepoint where Houthi attacks have disrupted global shipping for two years.
Washington already runs a naval base in neighboring Djibouti.
A Somaliland base doubles that coverage with a partner that has held democratic elections, maintained its own army, and governed itself without American nation-building dollars since 1991 – while Somalia drained American taxpayer money for decades and produced the fraud networks now consuming Minnesota.
Somaliland has deeply personal reasons to want Omar specifically.
Her father, Nur Said Elmi, has been publicly accused of participating in the Isaaq Genocide – the massacre of the Isaaq clan by the Siad Barre regime in the late 1980s.
The Republic of Somaliland posted a detailed thread documenting the Omar family's name changes, multiple identities, and her father's alleged role in those atrocities.
This is the family America let in.
This is the family that produced a sitting member of Congress.
JD Vance Confirmed Ilhan Omar Committed Immigration Fraud and Is Working With Stephen Miller on How to Prosecute It
Speaking on Benny Johnson's show last Friday, Vance stated flatly that the White House believes Omar committed immigration fraud – and that he is already in direct contact with Stephen Miller on how to move.
"We're trying to look at what the remedies are," Vance said. "How do you go after her? How do you investigate her? How do you build the case necessary to get some justice for the American people?"
The fraud allegation centers on Omar's 2009 civil marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi – a man multiple Somali community members have publicly identified as her biological brother – allegedly to secure him legal status in the United States as a British citizen.
Federal marriage fraud under 8 U.S.C. § 1325(c) is a felony.
For a naturalized citizen – Omar became one in 2000 – a conviction opens the door to denaturalization and deportation.
Ted Cruz laid out the full exposure in December: federal marriage fraud, state incest statutes, and tax fraud – three separate criminal pathways.
Vance tied her to something even bigger.
"She has been at the center of a lot of the worst fraudsters in the Somali community," he said.
The Quality Learing Center – the Minneapolis daycare that collected $4 million in taxpayer money and cannot spell "learning" on its own sign – sits inside a fraud network federal prosecutors have called the largest pandemic-era theft in American history.
More than 90 people charged federally.
Stolen money wired to Somalia, Kenya, and China.
One recovered text message referenced sending cash to a Somali market previously controlled by al-Shabaab – the same terrorist organization responsible for Black Hawk Down.
Tim Walz watched every bit of it happen for seven years and called it racism to point it out.
Recognizing Somaliland Gives Trump a Military Base a Minerals Deal and Ilhan Omar All at Once
Trump started with recognition and ended with the Abraham Accords reshaping the entire Middle East.
The Somaliland play is the same move.
Recognize a stable, democratic, pro-American government sitting at the entrance to the Red Sea.
Lock in exclusive mineral rights that cut China out of a critical supply chain.
Secure a military base that gives U.S. forces a hedge against Houthi attacks and instability in Djibouti.
And hand back the congresswoman who allegedly bought her way into America with a sham marriage – to the government that has been waiting thirty years to see her family answer for what they did.
Vance and Miller are building the case.
Somaliland has already said yes.
The only question is whether Washington moves fast enough to take them up on it.
