Barack Obama Was Haunted by Two Words From His Past After He Attacked Trump’s Attorney General

Barack Obama couldn't resist the opportunity to attack Trump during an appearance on late-night TV.

His latest lecture to America conveniently ignored one important fact.

And Obama looked like a fool after he was caught in one brazen lie.

Obama Attacks Trump's Justice Department on Colbert and Triggers Eric Holder Flashback

Tuesday night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Obama argued that the attorney general must be "the people's lawyer" – not the president's personal fixer.

He argued that America could survive bad elections and bad policy.

What it cannot survive, he said, is a president using the Justice Department to go after political enemies.

"We can't overcome the politicization of the criminal justice system," Obama warned, adding that the attorney general must never become the president's "consigliere" – a mafia term he deployed without any awareness of his own record.

Holder's name never came up. Neither did Loretta Lynch's.

The appearance came as Socialist Democrats have been hyperventilating over Trump's Justice Department targeting Deep State operatives and criminals like James Comey – the same James Comey who spent years leaking classified memos and playing politics in an FBI director's costume.

Eric Holder Called Himself Obama's Wingman and It Just Got Worse From There

Heritage Foundation senior fellow Hans von Spakovsky, who wrote a book on Holder's tenure, said: "The moment Eric Holder came in, he politicized the Justice Department."

Former Attorney General Eric Holder bragged on national radio that he was Obama's "wing man."

He was a political hatchet man for Obama.

Holder became the first attorney general in American history held in contempt of Congress – for stonewalling the Fast and Furious investigation, a gun-running operation that put American weapons in the hands of Mexican cartel members and got Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry killed.

Obama's DOJ prosecuted more journalists under the Espionage Act than all previous administrations combined, seizing the personal emails of Fox News reporter James Rosen and labeling him a criminal co-conspirator for doing his job.

Then came Obama’s next Attorney General, Loretta Lynch.

Bill Clinton crossed an Arizona airport tarmac in June 2016 to board Lynch's government plane for a private meeting – while the FBI was actively investigating his wife for mishandling classified information.

Lynch said they talked about his travels, golf, and grandchildren.

James Comey later testified that the tarmac meeting was "the capper" – the moment he concluded the Justice Department could not credibly close the Clinton investigation on its own.

The FBI cleared Hillary Clinton days later.

Obama Weaponized the DOJ Against Trump and Now Wants Credit for the Norms He Broke

The FBI used a dossier funded by the Clinton campaign and the DNC to spy on a Trump campaign adviser – and the federal court that approved the warrants later ruled two of them were invalid.

Inspector General Michael Horowitz found 17 separate errors and omissions in those surveillance applications.

The court's own presiding judge said the findings called into question whether FBI applications could be trusted at all.

Obama's Justice Department wiretapped a presidential campaign using opposition research as the legal justification – and got caught.

The man warning America about a weaponized Justice Department built one.

Why Obama Keeps Showing Up on The Late Show as Colbert Ends

Obama isn't talking to persuadable voters.

He's building vocabulary for the next two years.

"Consigliere." "Politicization." "Political enemies."

Every phrase from his late night appearance will be in Democrat fundraising emails by Friday.

The goal isn't accountability – it's preemptive reframing.

Obama needs to establish his DOJ as the gold standard of independence before the full accounting of what his administration actually did reaches a wider audience.

His first attorney general bragged about being his wing man and became the first in history held in contempt of Congress. His second AG met secretly with the husband of the woman her department was investigating three weeks before the FBI cleared her.

Now he's on The Late Show warning America about consiglieres.

The audacity is the whole point.
