Democrats spent four years telling you they were the only thing standing between America and tyranny.
Now one of their senators just threatened to destroy every company in America that dared do business with Donald Trump.
The two words Senator Ruben Gallego used to deliver that threat are the most honest thing a Democrat has said in years.
Gallego's Threat, Word for Word
In a Semafor report, Gallego told reporter Dave Weigel exactly what Democrat retribution looks like: "Once we take power, whoever the president is, we're going to break up your companies."
He kept going.
"So all the investment you did to create these mergers are going to be for naught," Gallego said. "Your investors are going to be pissed at you, and you're likely going to end up getting fired as the CEO because you wasted so much money and corrupted yourself in the process."
Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut piled on, posting on X that Paramount should "enjoy its growing news monopoly while they have it because when Democrats win back power we are going to break up these anti-democratic information conglomerates. All of them."
Gallego replied: "Damn right."
This isn't just talk. Judiciary Committee Democrats have already sent letters to Paramount, Hewlett-Packard, and Alphabet.
Representative Robert Garcia – the top Democrat on the Oversight Committee – told Semafor his office has already contacted corporations about their future investigative agenda. Businesses are quietly bracing for a subpoena blitz the moment Democrats take the House.
And Representative Pramila Jayapal put a number on it: "I don't think you can do like 100 [companies] but I think you can do three and start with that."
Why Democrats Are Melting Down Over a $111 Billion Deal
The rage is all about one deal: Paramount Skydance's $111 billion takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery.
David Ellison – son of Oracle founder and Trump ally Larry Ellison – outbid Netflix for the entire company, which includes CNN, HBO, TBS, the Warner Bros. film studio, and dozens of other properties.
Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos visited the White House and walked away without raising his bid.
Democrats are furious because a Trump-aligned family is about to own CNN and CBS News – which Ellison already overhauled after Paramount acquired it last year.
Susan Rice – Obama's Susan Rice – warned corporations they have "another thing coming" if they think Democrats will "play by the old rules."
The Party That Cried Fascism Just Became the Thing They Warned You About
For four years, Democrats accused Trump of weaponizing government against political enemies.
Gallego is now on record promising to use federal antitrust power to destroy companies – not for antitrust violations, not for harming consumers – but as punishment for working with a president he hates.
Maryland Representative Jamie Raskin went even further, telling Semafor he is eyeing potential Emoluments Clause violations and said Trump "should have been impeached" in his first term for "receiving millions and millions of dollars from foreign governments."
So here's what Democrats are actually planning if they win the House: antitrust investigations against companies that cooperated with Trump, a fresh impeachment push, and a target list of corporations already drawn up and ready to go.
The Heritage Foundation has warned for years that turning antitrust into a political weapon "significantly exacerbates cronyism, corporate welfare, and political corruption" – handing Washington bureaucrats the power to pick winners and losers based on political loyalty alone.
Oversight Committee Chair James Comer isn't buying any of it. "If we find wrongdoing, we will do our part in investigating," Comer said. "But right now, we just see a lot of smoke and mirrors and a lot of gamesmanship by the Democrats."
Every American CEO now faces the same choice: do business with Trump and face Democrat revenge squads the moment power flips – or go along with the radical Left and stay off their list.
