Liberal magazine editors are having a complete meltdown.

The mere suggestion has them ready to abandon their cushy jobs.

And Melania Trump left liberal magazine editors threatening to quit with one move they never saw coming.

Vanity Fair considers breaking with woke orthodoxy

Vanity Fair’s new editor-in-chief Mark Guiducci is reportedly considering something that would have been unthinkable just months ago.

According to reporting from Ben Smith at Semafor, Guiducci has been telling people that he’s "potentially interested in putting Melania Trump on the cover" as part of a broader shift toward a more centrist editorial stance following the 2024 election.¹

This represents a dramatic departure from the magazine’s previous anti-Trump leadership that deliberately snubbed the First Lady during Trump’s entire first term.

The suggestion alone has liberal readers up in arms and editorial staff threatening mass resignations.

But here’s what makes this even more telling – Guiducci knows exactly what he’s doing.

A mid-tier editor told the Daily Mail they’re ready to stage a full revolt over the possibility.

"We are not going to normalize this despot and his wife; we’re just not going to do it," the editor fumed. "If [Guiducci] puts Melania on the cover, half of the editorial staff will walk out, I guarantee it."²

The same editor ranted: "If I have to work bagging groceries at Trader Joe’s, I’ll do it. If [Guiducci] puts Melania on the cover, half of the editorial staff will walk out, I guarantee it."

That’s rich coming from people who think they’re above everyday Americans while pretending to fight for "democracy."

The stunning hypocrisy of liberal media

The media’s treatment of Melania Trump versus previous First Ladies exposes everything wrong with the establishment press.

During President Trump’s first term, Melania appeared on exactly zero American magazine covers.

Zero.

Meanwhile, Michelle Obama appeared on Vogue’s cover three separate times between 2009 and 2017.³

Even Jill Biden – whose fashion sense resembles a collection of breakfast place mats – managed to land on magazine covers twice.

Vogue and Vanity Fair, both owned by Condé Nast, made it crystal clear that politics mattered more than actual newsworthiness or visual appeal.

The only magazine cover Melania appeared on during Trump’s first presidency was Vanity Fair Mexico in February 2017.

Think about that for a moment.

A stunning former supermodel who speaks five languages and serves as America’s First Lady gets completely blacklisted by the American fashion press.

But a woman whose biggest accomplishment involves having "Dr." in front of her name gets the royal treatment.

Melania’s classy response puts liberals to shame

For her part, Melania Trump has handled the media’s petty snubs with characteristic grace.

Speaking with Fox News, she explained her perspective on magazine coverage: "I’ve been there on the covers — on the cover of Vogue, on the covers of many magazines before. We have so many other important things to do than to be on the cover of any magazine."⁴

While liberal editors throw tantrums about "normalizing" the First Lady, Melania is focused on actual accomplishments.

She just announced the Presidential Artificial Intelligence Challenge, a program designed to prepare America’s next generation for the AI revolution.

"The Presidential AI Challenge will be the first step in preparing our next generation with a base understanding of this important new technology," she explained.⁵

Compare that substance to the liberal media’s obsession with partisan virtue signaling.

Actor James Woods highlighted the hypocrisy perfectly, noting that if the Trumps were Democrats, Melania would be featured constantly on magazine covers.⁶

What this really means

And you know what this whole Vanity Fair situation proves?

The liberal media establishment is finally starting to realize they backed the wrong horse.

MAGA isn’t just a political movement anymore – it’s mainstream American culture.

Guiducci understands that putting Melania on the cover would drive readership and clicks to levels Vanity Fair hasn’t seen in years.

That’s because normal Americans – the ones who actually buy magazines and click on articles – are sick of the woke nonsense.

But here’s the deeper issue: these liberal editors can’t handle the idea that they might have to treat a conservative First Lady with basic respect.

They spent four years proving that their "commitment to women" was always conditional on political agreement.

Now they’re faced with the reality that their partisan hatred cost them credibility and readers.

The staff threatening to quit? Let them walk.

Magazines that put political ideology above their actual mission deserve to fail.

And if Guiducci does put Melania on the cover, he’ll discover something the establishment media forgot – Americans love winners, not whiners.

The liberal media’s four-year temper tantrum is finally coming to an end.
