The Democrat Party has completely lost touch with reality.

They’re so desperate for attention they’ll make fools of themselves on national TV.

And Eric Swalwell challenged Greg Gutfeld to one humiliating contest that left conservatives howling with laughter.

Swalwell issues bizarre challenge to Fox News host

U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA) proved once again that Democrats have zero sense of self-awareness when he challenged Fox News host Greg Gutfeld to a bench press competition on Wednesday.

The stakes? Their jobs.

Swalwell took to X to issue his laughable challenge after Gutfeld mocked his pathetic workout videos on a recent episode of Gutfeld!.

"Here’s a deal for @Gutfeldfox. (Never heard of him til he spent 8 mins criticizing what I bench press)," Swalwell said in his tweet. "The deal: if tough guy benches more than me for 10 reps I’ll leave Congress. If not, he leaves Fox News. I’ll give Greg 48 hrs to accept, then I’m calling him GUTLESSfeld."¹

The whole embarrassing episode started when Gutfeld roasted Swalwell’s social media videos showing the congressman doing various physical activities that looked more like a middle-aged dad trying to impress his teenage kids.

During his show, Gutfeld delivered a devastating blow about Swalwell’s bench press form, saying "With a bench press like that, no one will mind if you use the women’s locker room."²

Republican Senator jumps into the fray

But Swalwell’s challenge backfired spectacularly when one of his colleagues decided to get in on the action.

Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) – who actually has a background as a professional Mixed Martial Arts fighter – immediately stepped up to the plate.

"Eric, if you’re looking for a reason to leave Congress, I’ll be your Huckleberry," Mullin fired back. "I’ll take your offer or, whatever your max is, I’ll do for a minimum of 5 reps. You’re welcome to counter. Give my best to Fang Fang."³

That last line was a brutal reminder of Swalwell’s embarrassing scandal involving alleged Chinese spy Christine Fang, nicknamed "Fang Fang," who reportedly had close ties to the congressman for years.

The timing of Mullin’s intervention couldn’t have been more perfect – here’s a sitting U.S. Senator who actually knows how to handle himself in physical competition calling out Swalwell’s desperate attention-seeking behavior.

Democrats continue to embarrass themselves

This ridiculous spectacle perfectly captures everything wrong with today’s Democrat Party.

Instead of focusing on the border crisis, inflation, or any of the real problems facing Americans, Swalwell is challenging TV hosts to bench press competitions like some kind of reality show contestant.

The fact that he claims he’d "never heard" of Gutfeld – whose show regularly beats every other late-night program in the ratings – just shows how out of touch these Washington, D.C. Democrats really are.

Gutfeld’s show consistently draws larger audiences than supposed "mainstream" competitors like Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel, but Swalwell apparently lives in such a liberal bubble that he’s completely unaware of conservative media’s massive influence.

This isn’t the first time Swalwell has made a complete fool of himself on social media.

The congressman regularly posts workout videos and other cringe-worthy content that seems designed more for personal branding than actual governing.

The real question nobody’s asking

Here’s what should worry voters about this whole embarrassing episode – Swalwell is so desperate for attention that he’s willing to bet his congressional seat on a bench press competition.

Think about that for a moment.

A sitting member of Congress, who draws a six-figure salary from taxpayers, is literally gambling his job away over a Fox News host making fun of his workout routine.

If Swalwell is this easily triggered by television commentary, how can voters trust him to handle actual legislative responsibilities or represent their interests in Washington, D.C.?

The answer is they can’t.

Look at what’s happening here. Gas prices are through the roof, groceries cost a fortune, and families can barely make ends meet. Meanwhile, Swalwell’s biggest concern is whether some TV host thinks his bench press technique looks weak.

Mullin’s comeback was surgical. The Oklahoma Senator – who actually fought professionally – didn’t just call Swalwell’s bluff. He reminded everyone about that Chinese spy scandal with the "Fang Fang" reference. That’s how you handle a grandstanding politician who’s clearly more interested in viral moments than actual governing.

Gutfeld hasn’t responded to Swalwell’s pathetic challenge.

Smart money says the Fox News host is too busy focusing on actual news and comedy to waste time with a congressman who apparently has nothing better to do than challenge television personalities to weightlifting contests.

But if this challenge somehow moves forward, conservatives across the country will be watching and laughing as another Democrat proves they’re completely unfit for office.
