Nancy Pelosi thought she could sit back and take cheap shots at President Trump from the sidelines.
But Trump just announced a plan that sent her into a complete tailspin.
And Nancy Pelosi had one jaw-dropping meltdown after Trump announced this brilliant prison plan.
Trump administration moves to reopen Alcatraz as federal prison
President Donald Trump is making good on his promise to get tough on crime.
And he’s doing it in a way that’ll make liberal heads explode across the country.
Attorney General Pam Bondi is set to announce plans to reopen Alcatraz as a federal prison on Thursday.
The famous island prison, which currently operates as a tourist attraction under the National Park Service, could soon be housing America’s most dangerous criminals again.
Bondi and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum are expected to officially announce the Trump administration’s plans to transform the historic site back into a working federal prison.¹
Right now, Alcatraz is controlled by the National Park Service and generates about $60 million in annual revenue as a tourist destination.
But Trump sees a better use for the island fortress.
The plan would require new legislation in the House of Representatives to remove environmental protections for the site and transfer control away from the National Park Service.
This isn’t some spur-of-the-moment decision.
Trump first proposed reopening Alcatraz back in May and has recently been discussing renderings of a new facility.
The President understands that America needs secure facilities to house violent criminals and terrorists.
And what better place than the island prison that once held some of the country’s most notorious inmates?
Pelosi goes ballistic over Trump’s crime-fighting plan
Nancy Pelosi couldn’t contain her rage when she heard about Trump’s Alcatraz plan.
The former House Speaker issued a statement calling it "the Trump Administration’s stupidest initiative yet."¹
But Pelosi didn’t stop there.
She went on to mock the President’s intelligence in typical Democrat fashion.
"It should concern us all that clearly the only intellectual resources the Administration has drawn upon for this foolish notion are decades-old fictional Hollywood movies," Pelosi said.¹
That’s rich coming from someone who represents San Francisco.
Pelosi’s district has turned into a crime-ridden hellhole under Democrat leadership.
Homeless encampments, drug dealers, and violent criminals roam the streets while she worries about a Hollywood movie reference.
Maybe if Democrats had done their job fighting crime, Trump wouldn’t need to reopen Alcatraz.
But that’s exactly why voters gave Trump a mandate to clean up the mess that people like Pelosi created.
The former Speaker’s hysterical reaction shows she knows Trump is serious about law and order.
And that terrifies Democrats who’ve spent years coddling criminals and defunding the police.
California Democrats unite against common-sense crime solution
Pelosi isn’t the only California Democrat having a meltdown over Trump’s plan.
Governor Gavin Newsom’s office took a different approach with a snarky statement trying to tie the Alcatraz announcement to the Jeffrey Epstein files.
"Pam Bondi will reopen Alcatraz the same day Trump lets her release the Epstein files. So… never," Newsom’s office said.¹
That’s the kind of juvenile response you’d expect from Newsom.
Instead of addressing California’s crime crisis, he’s making jokes about federal investigations.
San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie also weighed in against the plan.
"There’s no realistic plan to make Alcatraz reopen as anything other than the wonderful tourist attraction that it currently is," Lurie said.¹
These Democrats would rather keep collecting tourist dollars than protect American citizens from dangerous criminals.
It’s a perfect example of their twisted priorities.
They’ll fight tooth and nail to stop a prison from reopening while their cities burn with crime and violence.
Trump’s plan makes perfect sense for public safety
Rebuilding Alcatraz as a modern prison facility would cost at least $250 million according to current estimates.¹
That might sound like a lot of money to Democrats who waste taxpayer dollars on green energy boondoggles.
But it’s a bargain compared to the cost of letting violent criminals roam free in American communities.
Look, Alcatraz worked for decades as a maximum-security prison.
You can’t just swim away from an island in the middle of San Francisco Bay.
Even Al Capone couldn’t break out of that place.
And sending criminals there sends a message that America doesn’t mess around when it comes to justice.
Trump gets it – you can’t have a country without laws that actually mean something.
Meanwhile, Pelosi and Newsom have let their cities turn into absolute disasters.
Now they’re throwing tantrums because Trump wants to give law enforcement the tools they need to fight back.
The President campaigned on restoring law and order to American streets.
Reopening Alcatraz is exactly the kind of bold action that voters demanded when they elected him.
While Democrats obsess over Hollywood movies and tourist revenue, Trump is focused on keeping Americans safe.
That’s the difference between real leadership and the failed policies that have plagued places like San Francisco for decades.
Nancy Pelosi can have all the meltdowns she wants.
But Trump is moving forward with his plan to make America safe again.
And reopening Alcatraz is just the beginning.
