The swamp is fighting back harder than ever.
Two former Presidents just teamed up to trash Donald Trump’s corruption cleanup.
And George W. Bush and Obama launched this awful attack to defend the swamp.
Bush joins forces with Trump’s biggest enemies
Former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama teamed up with liberal U-2 rocker Bono to comfort employees being fired from the corrupt United States Agency for International Development (USAID).¹
The trio held a video call Monday to trash President Trump’s decision to shutter the scandal-plagued agency that Elon Musk called "a viper’s nest of radical-left marxists who hate America."²
Bush, who’s spent years staying quiet about Trump, suddenly found his voice to defend the very swamp creatures Trump promised to drain.
"Gutting USAID is a travesty, and it’s a tragedy," Obama whined during the call that was shown to departing USAID employees.³
But Obama wasn’t done there.
He called Trump’s decision "a colossal mistake" and predicted that "sooner or later, leaders on both sides of the aisle will realize how much you are needed."⁴
The real reason USAID got the boot
What Obama conveniently left out is exactly why USAID got eliminated in the first place.
The Department of Government Efficiency investigated USAID and uncovered massive fraud, waste, and corruption that would make your head spin.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio didn’t mince words when he announced USAID’s closure.
"Beyond creating a globe-spanning NGO industrial complex at taxpayer expense, USAID has little to show since the end of the Cold War," Rubio wrote.⁵
"Development objectives have rarely been met, instability has often worsened, and anti-American sentiment has only grown."⁶
Trump himself exposed some of the most outrageous examples of USAID waste during his March address to Congress.
"Forty-five million dollars for diversity, equity and inclusion scholarships in Burma," Trump rattled off the absurd spending.⁷
"Eight million to promote LGBTQI+ in the African nation of Lesotho, which nobody has ever heard of. Sixty million dollars for indigenous peoples and Afro-Colombian empowerment in Central America."⁸
The cherry on top? "Eight million for making mice transgender."⁹
Bush’s betrayal cuts deep
Bush’s decision to publicly attack Trump represents a stunning betrayal of conservative principles.
Here’s a former Republican President siding with Barack Obama and a liberal rock star to defend an agency that was literally burning taxpayer money on woke pet projects.
Bush tried to tug at heartstrings by claiming USAID’s closure would end his administration’s AIDS and HIV program that supposedly saved 25 million lives.
"You’ve showed the great strength of America through your work — and that is your good heart," Bush told the fired USAID staffers.¹⁰
But what Bush won’t admit is that these programs can continue under the State Department with actual oversight and accountability.
Rubio made it crystal clear that "foreign assistance programs that align with administration policies—and which advance American interests—will be administered by the State Department, where they will be delivered with more accountability, strategy, and efficiency."¹¹
Celebrity activism at its worst
Leave it to Bono to make the whole thing even more dramatic.
The U2 singer actually recited a poem about USAID’s closure and claimed millions around the world will now die.
"They called you crooks. When you were the best of us," Bono said.¹²
Except here’s the problem – some of them actually were crooks.
Just this year, four people pled guilty in a massive bribery scheme at USAID that Democrats had fought tooth and nail to protect from DOGE oversight.¹³
Bono previously claimed that cuts to USAID would kill hundreds of thousands of people and called Trump "potentially the worst idea that ever happened to America" back in 2016.¹⁴
The swamp fights back
This coordinated attack from Bush, Obama, and their celebrity friends shows just how desperate the establishment has become.
They’re watching Trump systematically dismantle the corrupt agencies that have been wasting taxpayer money for decades, and they can’t stand it.
Hillary Clinton also jumped into the fray, posting on X that "foreign service officers and development professionals were among the most dedicated public servants I encountered."¹⁵
"Their work saves lives and makes the world safer," Clinton claimed.¹⁶
But Trump and DOGE have shown the American people exactly what these "dedicated public servants" were really doing with our tax dollars.
This isn’t about helping people around the world – it’s about protecting a massive government bureaucracy that exists primarily to enrich itself and push left-wing ideology on foreign countries.
The fact that Bush would align himself with Obama and liberal celebrities to attack Trump’s America First agenda shows just how out of touch the old Republican establishment really is.
Trump promised to drain the swamp, and that’s exactly what he’s doing – no matter how loudly the swamp creatures scream about it.
