Donald Trump won a massive victory in November and took office with big plans to drain the swamp.
But activist judges across America have different ideas about the Trump presidency.
Federal judges have issued hundreds of court orders trying to stop Trump from carrying out his campaign promises.
Left-wing judges appointed by Barack Obama are leading this legal resistance.
These judges blocked Trump’s orders to end DEI programs in government.
They also tried to stop Trump from halting funding to Harvard over international student issues.
And Obama judges attempted to prevent Trump from ending Biden’s immigration "parole" programs.
The pattern is obvious – Democrat-appointed judges want to sabotage Trump’s presidency.
Supreme Court watchers expected Chief Justice Roberts to put a stop to this judicial rebellion.
Instead, Roberts is helping the resistance succeed.
Roberts sides with liberal justices to hurt Trump
The most shocking betrayal came in March when Roberts joined the Supreme Court’s liberal wing in a crucial vote.
The case involved Trump’s effort to freeze $2 billion in foreign aid spending while his administration reviewed the programs.
A lower court judge ordered Trump to immediately pay out the money to foreign organizations.
Trump’s team asked the Supreme Court to block this order while they appealed.
But Roberts sided with the three liberal justices plus Amy Coney Barrett to force Trump to pay the $2 billion.
Conservative Justice Samuel Alito was furious about the 5-4 decision.
"Does a single district-court judge who likely lacks jurisdiction have the unchecked power to compel the Government of the United States to pay out (and probably lose forever) 2 billion taxpayer dollars?" Alito wrote in his dissent.
"The answer to that question should be an emphatic ‘No,’ but a majority of this Court apparently thinks otherwise. I am stunned," Alito continued.
According to reporting by The Federalist’s Shawn Fleetwood, this ruling gave the green light to other activist judges to issue similar orders against the Trump administration.
Roberts reveals his true beliefs about judicial power
Roberts showed his hand during a public appearance in Buffalo, New York in May.
Speaking to a crowd of lawyers and judges, Roberts defended the idea that courts can override the other branches of government.
"The judiciary is a co-equal branch of government, separate from the others, with the authority to interpret the Constitution as law and strike down, obviously, acts of Congress or acts of the president," Roberts said.
This statement reveals Roberts believes in something called "judicial supremacy" – the idea that courts have the final say over elected officials.
Constitutional experts point out this goes against what the Founding Fathers intended.
The founders viewed the judiciary as the weakest branch of government, not the strongest.
But Roberts apparently thinks unelected judges should be able to overrule the President that 77 million Americans voted for.
Trump fights back against judicial resistance
President Trump has not stayed quiet about the judicial assault on his presidency.
On his Truth Social platform, Trump called out federal judges who rule against his administration.
"STOP NATIONWIDE INJUNCTIONS NOW, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE," Trump wrote, addressing Roberts directly.
"If Justice Roberts and the United States Supreme Court do not fix this toxic and unprecedented situation IMMEDIATELY, our Country is in very serious trouble!" Trump added.
Roberts responded by issuing a rare public statement defending judges.
"For more than two centuries, it has been established that impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial decision," Roberts said.
The Chief Justice seems more concerned about protecting judges than protecting Trump’s constitutional authority as President.
Roberts is destroying faith in the courts
Roberts has spent his entire career worrying about the Supreme Court’s reputation and "legitimacy."
But his actions are having the opposite effect of what he claims to want.
By allowing lower court judges to block Trump’s agenda, Roberts is making the judiciary look political and biased.
American voters elected Trump to carry out specific policies on immigration, spending, and government reform.
When unelected judges block these policies, it makes people question whether their votes actually matter.
Roberts had the power to stop this judicial coup against Trump.
Instead, he chose to enable it by siding with liberal justices in key cases.
The conservative legal movement that helped put Roberts on the Supreme Court is now questioning whether he can be trusted.
Writers at The Federalist have called Roberts "the face of leftists’ judicial coup" against Trump.
Other conservative commentators are asking whether Roberts has been compromised or is simply more concerned with media approval than constitutional principles.

If unelected judges can override the President on major policy decisions, then elections don’t really matter.
