DOGE subcommittees are holding hearings to examine how far-left nonprofits abused government funds to push their radical agenda.
EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin’s team discovered massive grants that the Biden administration had parked at outside financial institutions before leaving office.
One of the most outrageous examples came to light when his team found a $2 billion grant that benefited a nonprofit linked to failed Georgia Democrat gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams.
Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) couldn’t hide her anger when Republicans dared to question this massive payout.
The Texas Democrat accused Republicans of targeting the grant for one reason only.
"To hear the comments about Stacey Abrams really got me going," Crockett said during a hearing.
She claimed that Republicans were criticizing the grant because they wanted to "keep a strong black woman down."
"A lot of times when we come into this hearing room, it’s all about politics," Crockett ranted. "And it made me think that there was an issue most likely with Stacey because someone actually brought up the fact that Stacey has run for governor a couple of times, and there’s a gubernatorial race that’s coming up in Georgia and nobody knows whether or not Stacey is going to run."
"So, why not muddy the waters if we can hopefully keep a strong black woman down?" she added.
The shocking details of Biden’s $2 billion gift to Abrams
Crockett’s race-baiting comments were designed to distract from the real issue at hand.
The Biden Environmental Protection Agency announced in April 2024 that it would award Power Forward Communities a staggering $2 billion grant.
The money was supposedly to help provide electric zero-emissions appliances to poor communities.
But here’s where it gets interesting.
Power Forward Communities was only established in October 2023 as a coalition led by Rewiring America, a left-wing environmental group.
Stacey Abrams served as senior counsel and senior adviser for Rewiring America between early 2023 and late last year.
The most shocking detail is that Power Forward Communities reported just $100 in revenue when the EPA announced the massive grant.
That’s right – a brand new organization with virtually no track record received $2 billion in taxpayer money.
The group centered its grant application around an Abrams-led project in DeSoto, Georgia.
Abrams delivered electric appliances to a few dozen households that had previously used natural gas-powered appliances.
Biden EPA officials promoted this tiny project when they announced the $2 billion award.
Ian Magruder, the director of partnerships at Rewiring America, specifically credited Abrams for securing the funding.
"Stacey Abrams played a pivotal role," Magruder said about the grant application.
Republicans expose the political connections behind the massive payout
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who chairs the DOGE subcommittee, didn’t mince words about this obvious pay-to-play scheme.
"It’s pretty eye opening that a brand new politically connected group got such a massive federal grant," Greene said during the hearing.
She pointed out the obvious political motivations behind the award.
"Rewiring America hired Stacey Abrams, a twice-failed candidate for Georgia governor and well-known Democrat activist, even though she has little to no knowledge of energy policy," Greene continued.
"The leader of Power Forward praised Abrams for playing a pivotal role in securing these billions," Greene added.
The timing of this grant raises serious questions about the Biden administration’s priorities.
Abrams has run for Georgia governor twice and lost both times.
There’s speculation that she might run again in 2026.
What better way to boost her profile and build a war chest than to funnel $2 billion through organizations where she held key positions?
This looks like a classic example of Democrats using taxpayer money to fund their political allies and advance their radical climate agenda.
Trump administration moves to stop the waste
The good news is that the Trump administration is already taking action to stop this abuse of taxpayer dollars.
EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin terminated the Power Forward Communities grant and others awarded under the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund in March.
But the fight isn’t over yet.
Power Forward Communities filed a federal lawsuit challenging the decision to terminate their massive payday.
The case remains ongoing, but it shows just how determined these left-wing groups are to keep their hands on taxpayer money.
The Biden administration spent four years funneling billions of dollars to their political allies through so-called climate programs.
Now that Donald Trump is back in the White House, Americans are finally learning the truth about how their tax dollars were wasted.
This $2 billion grant to Stacey Abrams’ allies is just the tip of the iceberg.
DOGE will continue to expose the waste, fraud, and abuse that defined the Biden years.
