Explosive audio reveals “exclusion hit list” funded by your tax dollars
Secretary of State Marco Rubio made headlines last week when he abolished the censorship organization known as the Global Engagement Center (GEC).
The GEC was supposedly defunded by Republicans last year, but the Biden administration simply rebranded it as the “Counter Foreign Information and Interference office” and kept the same staff on the payroll.
And it wasn’t just Americans. The GEC funded and worked with powerful NGOs pushing speech restrictions and creating advertiser blacklists—designed to crush conservative media—across the West. Your tax dollars were funding a global war against conservatives.

Now, bombshell evidence has emerged revealing how taxpayer dollars funded a coordinated attack on conservative media outlets through a shadowy organization called the Global Disinformation Index (GDI).
In a damning audio recording from The Safety Tech Podcast, GDI’s CEO Clare Melford admitted to creating a special “exclusion hit list” program specifically targeting The Gateway Pundit and Breitbart News.
When asked about specific examples of websites that had been defunded through their work, Melford couldn’t help but brag about their successful censorship campaign.
“I can only talk about the ones that are already in the public domain, which are not necessarily the result of our work, but of the whole ecosystem of organizations that are trying to do the same,” Melford stated on the podcast.
“The first is Breitbart. There’s even video and footage of Steve Bannon talking about how the advertiser, a reaction against the content on Breitbart, cost them 90% of their ad revenue,” she continued.
“And the second is The Gateway Pundit,” Melford admitted. “There was a documentary on French TV, TV2, I think, in France last year, which showed a lot of the content on Gateway Pundit and talked to the advertising technology companies that monetized it, notably Google, and led to those companies deciding not to provide services to the Gateway Pundit in the future.”
Your tax dollars at work — against you
The Washington Examiner reported that the U.S. taxpayer-funded National Endowment for Democracy and the State Department’s Global Engagement Center funneled $665,000 to GDI during 2020 and 2021.
That’s right – your tax dollars were being used to silence conservative voices.
Other major funders of this censorship operation include George Soros’s Open Society, the European Union, and the United Kingdom government.
Secretary Rubio explained how the GEC’s original mission was twisted by Obama appointee Rick Stengel in 2016, shifting its focus to target “fake news” and “misinformation” here at home.
According to Rubio, Stengel was a “lunatic Trump hater” who essentially believed that a secure democracy meant “silencing the part of the electorate he doesn’t like.”
Targeting patriots who questioned the official narrative
The GEC worked aggressively to silence voices that challenged the regime’s approved narratives on COVID-19, including discussions about its origins, treatments, natural immunity, and the experimental vaccines.
Rubio also revealed that “GEC was an enthusiastic participant in the Election Integrity Partnership (EIP), an infamous group established under constitutionally questionable conditions to monitor ‘disinformation’ about the 2020 election.”
The Gateway Pundit has extensively reported on GDI’s activities for several years. In April 2023, investigative journalist Bob Bishop exposed GDI’s blacklisting strategy:
“The mission of the Disinformation Index with its U.K. parent organization, Disinformation Index LTD., is to defund conservative online news sites with claims of alleged disinformation,” Bishop wrote.
GDI’s “disinformation” focus conveniently targeted content about LGBT issues, climate change, election fraud, illegal immigration, the Russia/Ukraine conflict, abortion, the Biden family’s foreign business dealings, and vaccine content.
Attacking democracy while claiming to save it
When podcast host Ben Whitelaw asked Melford what type of “misinformation” concerned her most, her answer revealed the organization’s true political agenda.
“I think I am increasingly concerned about not an individual narrative, but the meta-narrative that democracy isn’t working,” Melford said.
She went on to demonstrate her liberal bias by claiming the January 6 Capitol protest was an example of “a great democracy attacking itself” and blamed “disinformation narratives” for undermining faith in democratic institutions.
Melford’s comments expose the deeply ironic nature of these censorship operations – they claim to be protecting democracy while actively working to silence half of the population.
While GDI has scrubbed its weekly tracker reports from its website, examples recovered from the Wayback Machine show how the organization systematically targeted leading conservative websites like Breitbart News, American Thinker, Fox Nation, and World News Daily.
With foreign governments funding operations designed to silence American conservative media, some are asking whether GDI should be required to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).
