Mark Zuckerberg talks about Donald Trump in leaked internal Meta meeting
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg was one of the most hostile CEOs to President Donald Trump and conservatives in Big Tech.
His relationship with Trump began to shift after the election.
Zuckerberg traveled to Mar-a-Lago to meet with him and attended the inauguration after Meta donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund.
He also announced that Meta was rolling back some of the censorship on Facebook and Instagram like fact-checkers.
No one could be sure if Zuckerberg had a change of heart or if he saw which way the political winds were blowing.
Meta made some major changes to the company including eliminating its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies, and putting pro-Trump UFC CEO Dana White on the board of directors.
The overwhelmingly left-wing employees were up in arms at the sudden political shift of their CEO.
Zuckerberg held a meeting with Meta’s employees where he fielded questions on changes to the company.
One of the employees asked him point blank if the dramatic changes he made to the company were because of Trump.
“It’s the right thing to do,” Zuckerberg said about being on good terms with the Trump administration.
He expressed his frustration at former President Joe Biden’s administration pressuring the company to censor content.
“After the last several years, we now have an opportunity to have a productive partnership with the United States government,” Zuckerberg said. “The government can sort of be actively opposing you, trying to get in the way and add a lot of friction, or can be actively trying to help you break down barriers to help you.”
Zuckerberg also defended his decision to ditch DEI policies at Meta as potentially being “unlawful.”
Zuckerberg’s threat to fire leakers
News of the Meta meeting leaked to the media which led to employees being threatened with their jobs for leaking.
Meta chief information security officer Guy Rosen warned in a memo that employees who leaked information could face termination.
“When information is stolen or leaked, there are repercussions beyond the immediate security impact,” Rosen said. “Our teams become demoralized and we all waste time that is better spent working on our products and toward our goals and mission.”
“We recently terminated relationships with employees who leaked confidential company information inappropriately and exfiltrated sensitive documents,” Rosen added.
Zuckerberg lamented the leaking problem at Meta.
“We try to be really open and then everything I say leaks,” Zuckerberg stated in a leaked recording. “It sucks.”
The meeting led by Zuckerberg had nearly 70,000 employees and lasted about an hour.
It seemed like he created a situation that would be rife for leaks with that many employees and his workforce upset about the recent changes.

The well-timed leaks to the media helped to burnish the pro-Trump credentials he’s been trying to establish since the election.
