Many celebrities fall from grace.
It has seemingly happened a lot in recent years.
And O.J. Simpson’s former bodyguard made one shocking claim that could change everything.
O.J. confession on tape?
NFL Hall of Fame running back O.J. Simpson was once a beloved figure in the media.
He starred in television commercials and movies, and had friends in high places.
All of that came tumbling down when he was arrested for the murder of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.
Simpson was acquitted of the murders, but he was guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt in the court of public opinion.
Simpson was later found liable in the wrongful death civil suits.
He was later arrested and convicted for attempting to steal memorabilia of his that had been auctioned off.
In 2017, Simpson was released from prison after a nine-year sentence.
Simpson died of prostate cancer in April 2024.
However, his notorious life story might not be complete.
A former bodyguard claims that he has evidence of Simpson confessing to the murders.
The Daily Mail reported that a “former bodyguard of O.J. Simpson has claimed he has a bombshell recording of the late football star confessing to the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. . .Officers in Minnesota seized ‘multiple thumb drives’ from Iroc Avelli, Simpson’s former bodyguard, according to a search warrant from police in Minnesota that was obtained by TMZ. The documents say that Bloomington PD arrested him in 2022 and then executed a search warrant to collect evidence, which included a green backpack with the drives inside.”
“Evidence” still in legal limbo
The supposed evidence is currently tied up in litigation.
The Daily Mail continued, “In June 2024, two months after Simpson died, officers in Minnesota received a call from an LAPD detective who advised the force that Avelli and his attorney had told them that a thumb drive they confiscated contained a recording of Simpson confessing. Bloomington Police have since accessed the thumb drive and determined there was no confession from Simpson at all, and that it was full of recordings of Avelli talking to himself.”
Either Avelli has the goods, or he’s desperate to drum up interest for a possible payday.
“TMZ reported that in order to access the contents of the drive, police in Minnesota had to have a court order which they obtained in June,” The Daily Mail added. “Sources told the outlet that the thumb drive is now tied up in ongoing litigation, with Avelli suing Minnesota police to get it back. But a judge ruled in July to deny that motion.”
If there is nothing of value on the drive, it seems strange that Avelli would fight to get it back.
Nevertheless, time will tell if Avelli actually has the evidence.
Most people assume Simpson was guilty, but an actual confession could potentially bring closure to the families of the victims.
