Donald Trump is off to a strong start to his Presidency.

It seems he was given bad advice about one of his cabinet picks.

But Trump will be furious after this nominee was caught in one awful scandal that has conservatives sounding the alarm.

Trump’s Labor Secretary nominee was a former Planned Parenthood employee

President Donald Trump picked a strong group of nominees to serve his cabinet with one glaring exception.

He tapped former Representative Lori Chavez-DeRemer (D-OR) as his nominee for Secretary of Labor.

Chavez-DeRemer was a little-known Congresswoman who served a single term in the House before she was defeated in the 2024 Election.

She had one of the worst records in Congress on supporting the top political ally of Democrats, Big Labor.

A form she filled out for the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee revealed that she worked for Planned Parenthood from January 1989 to May 1990.

Chavez-DeRemer told Senators she doesn’t “personally” support abortion despite once working for the nation’s largest abortion provider.

She claimed that she wouldn’t use her cabinet position to promote abortion.

Chavez-DeRemer said she was “pro-life” but was one of the worst Republicans on the issue during her two years in the House.

The former Congresswoman voted against a ban on using taxpayer money for abortions.

This adds to the troubling record of the Secretary of Labor nominee who has conservative groups mobilizing against her.

Lori Chavez-DeRemer was Big Labor’s favorite Republican

Chavez-DeRemer supported the so-called PRO Act in the House which is the wish list for every bad idea that Big Labor has had for the last 50 years.

Every Democrat including former Vice President Kamala Harris and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) backed the PRO Act.

The bill would wipe out all 27 state Right to Work laws which simply say workers shouldn’t be forced to pay union dues to get or keep a job.

It would also eliminate independent contractors who make up one-third of the workforce and the secret ballot for union elections so the union bosses can harass people into supporting them.

“Most freelancers want to keep their independence,” National Right to Work Committee president Mark Mix said. “But union bosses can only collect compulsory dues money from those classified as traditional employees, so the union-boss-backed ‘PRO Act’ clamps down on freelancing.”

Chavez-DeRemer also supported the Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act which would unionize every state and local government employee in the country without their consent.

The National Right to Work Committee and other conservative groups are urging voters to call their Senators at 202-224-3121 and tell them to vote no on Lori Chavez-DeRemer.

Trump and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) are fighting to cut waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government.

Chavez-DeRemer’s allies in the government employee unions are pushing back against DOGE and Trump’s efforts to reduce the size of the federal workforce.

She’s tried to back off her previous support for the PRO Act but Mix isn’t buying it.

“Senators shouldn’t confirm her unless she specifically denounces the anti-worker, pro-union boss provisions in that bill, including its ban on Right to Work laws and its shameless targeting of independent contractors so that union officials can shake them down for dues money,” Mix concluded.
