Donald Trump’s explosive White House meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky rattled the establishment.
Permanent Washington wanted the Ukrainian conflict to go on forever.
And a Republican Senator infuriated Mitch McConnell when he called for Trump to do one thing.
White House deal goes sideways in a hurry
Donald Trump negotiated an end to the war in Ukraine, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky torpedoed it at the last moment.
He disrespected Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance in the White House in front of the press corps.
Trump kicked Zelensky out of the White House and told him to come back when he was ready for peace.
Unsurprisingly, Democrats and globalist European leaders flocked to defend Zelensky against Trump, but that’s not how everybody felt.
Even hardcore warmongers acknowledged that Zelensky made a big mistake.
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), responded after the meeting, “Devastated. Everything I. . .have been working for to try to get a new relationship with the United States around a critical minerals deal beneficial to both of us was completely obliterated today. . .The question for me is, ‘Is he redeemable in the eyes of Americans?’ Most Americans witnessing what they saw today would not want Zelensky to be their business partner, including me, and I’ve been to Ukraine nine times since the war started.”
NATO obsolete
Some European leaders said that they could no longer depend on the United States for defense, which was music to the ears of Senator Mike Lee (R-UT).
After the meeting, Norwegian fuel company Haltbakk Bunkers refused to refuel an American vessel.
The company wrote in a statement, “We have today been a witness to the biggest s***show ever presented ‘live on TV’. . .As a result, we have decided to immediately STOP as fuel provider to American forces in Norway and their ships calling Norwegian ports. ‘No Fuel to Americans!’”
In response to that message, Senator Lee wrote, “Europe doesn’t love us. Let’s leave NATO.”

The thought of America leaving NATO would be nightmarish for politicians like Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) who were weaned on Cold War politics.
McConnell publicly blamed for making the last funding package to Ukraine more difficult because of his nightly protestations of the war on Fox News.
Other politicians with non-interventionist leanings also cheered the idea of leaving NATO.
Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) has long been critical of NATO.
The military alliance does not really make much sense in a post-Cold War era where the Soviet Union no longer exists.
Russia even asked to join NATO twice, but both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush blocked the effort.
NATO needs a boogeyman for its existence to be justified.
Haltbakk Bunkers owner Gunnar Gran doubled down on his company policy.
He said “not a litre” of fuel “until Trump is finished.”
Gran added, “We run a private limited company and choose our customers. . .We lost a lot of revenue, but we have a moral compass. Now the United States is excluded based on their behaviour towards the Ukrainians.”
However, not everyone in Norway agreed with Gran.
Tore Sandvik from the Ministry of Defence commented, “We have seen reports raising concerns about support for US Navy vessels in Norway. This is not in line with the Norwegian government’s policy. I can confirm that all requested support has been provided. The U.S. and Norway maintain a close and strong defense cooperation. American forces will continue to receive the supply and support they require from Norway.”
Zelensky’s blow-up was facilitated by demanding a security guarantee.
But that is never going to happen, and everyone knows it.
