Rand Paul announces major pandemic investigation
Senate Republicans managed to flip control of the chamber on Election Day.
That means that they can run committees and have the power to subpoena.
U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) hoped to launch an investigation into the pandemic after the 2022 Midterm Election but his hopes were dashed after a disappointing showing by Republican Senate candidates.
Now, he can finally have his investigation and bring some accountability to one of the biggest abuses of power in American history.
Paul will be the chair of the Senate Homeland Security Committee next year.
The Kentucky lawmaker believes that the virus escaped from a lab in Wuhan, China that conducted research with American taxpayer’s money.
He told the New York Post in an interview that would get to the bottom of how the pandemic started.
“I chose to chair this committee over another because I believe that, for the health of our republic, Congress must stand up once again for its constitutional role,” Paul said. “This committee’s mission of oversight and investigations is critical to Congress reasserting itself.”
Paul has worked doggedly trying to investigate the origins of the pandemic but chairing a committee and having subpoena powers will open up doors that there were close to him when Republicans were in the minority.
“I think we’re on the cusp of, really, the beginning of uncovering what happened with COVID,” Paul stated.
Changes in the White House changes in attitude
President-elect Donald Trump sent a message to the public health bureaucracy when he nominated Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to serve as Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Kennedy like Paul is a critic of former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Dr. Anthony Fauci.
“We are going to, hopefully, have a friendlier administration, and we’re hoping that there will be a friendly person at [the Department of Health and Human Services], and we’re hoping they’ll be friendly at [the National Institutes of Health],” Paul explained.
Paul is trying to shine on what happened during the pandemic after Fauci and his minions like Dr. David Morens worked to destroy evidence about what they knew.
“We’re just scratching at the tip of the iceberg,” Paul explained. “Most of the [documents] we’ve been trying to get so far are non-classified. You can imagine what may be happening in our government or other governments.”
He also wants to investigate potential conflicts of interest by government scientists who are hiding royal payments they receive from drugmakers for their work.
“I’ve been asking the question for a couple of years. If you are a scientist and you’re on the committee that approves vaccines and recommends that they be mandatory, shouldn’t you have to reveal if you get Pfizer royalties?” Paul asked.
Rand Paul’s investigation is a chance for accountability that Dr. Fauci and others have tried to evade.
