Their latest hero is a woman who covered up one of the most significant White House scandals in decades.
And MSNBC’s O’Donnell praised Jen Psaki as “best ever” press secretary while she hid this devastating truth from Americans.
Liberal media still defending Biden’s health deception team
MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell went to extraordinary lengths Wednesday night to polish the tarnished legacy of former Biden press secretary Jen Psaki, declaring her the “best White House press secretary” he had ever seen.
“That is the way every White House press secretary not hired by Donald Trump has always talked about the Federal Reserve carefully and respectfully,” O’Donnell claimed. “When Jen Psaki stepped up to the podium in the White House press briefing room for that very first time, I was watching and I knew very quickly that I was watching the best White House press secretary I had ever seen.”
The effusive praise came despite Psaki’s central role in what has become recognized as one of the most consequential cover-ups of presidential incapacity in modern American history.
O’Donnell’s comments reflect the liberal media’s ongoing effort to rewrite history and shield those responsible for hiding President Biden’s cognitive decline from the American people.
The mountain of evidence Psaki helped hide
While O’Donnell was busy showering Psaki with praise, he conveniently ignored her documented pattern of misleading statements about Biden’s health and mental acuity.
In May 2021, after Biden suffered multiple embarrassing falls on the Air Force One staircase, Psaki told reporters it was actually “hard to keep up with” the president – a claim now widely recognized as deliberately deceptive given what we know about Biden’s condition.
The Wall Street Journal published a devastating exposé on December 19, 2024, revealing that White House aides had “insulated” Biden even from his own Cabinet as his health deteriorated – information Psaki and her team actively worked to suppress.
Perhaps most damning was Psaki’s 2024 book, in which she falsely claimed Biden did not check his watch during the ceremony for military personnel killed in the August 2021 Kabul bombing. After families of the fallen service members publicly contradicted her account, Psaki was forced to retract her statement – but only after being caught in the lie.
The truth was hiding in plain sight
Throughout Biden’s presidency, Americans witnessed numerous concerning incidents that should have prompted honest discussions about the president’s fitness:
Biden repeatedly claimed to have spoken with world leaders who had been dead for years, including former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl (died 2017) and former French President Francois Mitterrand (died 1996).
At a September 2022 conference, Biden asked for Rep. Jackie Walorski of Indiana, apparently forgetting she had died in a car accident weeks earlier.
The White House eventually began implementing special accommodations for Biden, including using different stairs to board Air Force One after his repeated struggles with the standard staircase.
Despite these glaring red flags, Psaki consistently downplayed concerns and deflected legitimate questions about the president’s health.
O’Donnell confuses Hollywood fantasy with reality
In his bizarre defense of Psaki, O’Donnell leaned heavily on his experience as a writer and producer for NBC’s political drama The West Wing.
“I was a writer and executive producer of NBC’s Emmy-winning drama set in the White House called The West Wing, and if anyone in the writers’ room there ever suggested that we send the press secretary into our White House press briefing room that we had on the Warner Bros. Lot in Burbank, and have her just tell obvious lies from start to finish to the press, I would have been among the first to say that that would never happen,” O’Donnell said. “It would so never happen. No one in the West Wing writers’ room would never even suggest it.”
The television host seemed oblivious to the irony of using a fictional TV show as his standard for truth-telling while defending a press secretary who systematically misled the public about the president’s declining mental state.
A pattern of media protection
O’Donnell’s defense of Psaki isn’t an isolated incident but part of a broader pattern of mainstream media figures closing ranks to protect those who shielded Biden’s deteriorating condition from public scrutiny.
While attacking Trump administration press secretaries as dishonest, O’Donnell claimed that Psaki embodied “sanity” at the podium – apparently defining “sanity” as the ability to conceal a president’s cognitive impairment while continuing to assure Americans he was fit for office.
“And when each of Donald Trump’s White House press secretaries made their rare appearances in the White House press briefing room, I knew I was watching the worst press secretaries in the history of that job, including the current holder of that job,” O’Donnell claimed.
This double standard exposes the mainstream media’s willingness to excuse – and even celebrate – deception when it serves their political interests.
The American people deserved honest information about their president’s capacity to serve. What they got instead was Jen Psaki’s carefully crafted misdirection and Lawrence O’Donnell’s glowing praise for her ability to deliver it.
O’Donnell’s comments reveal that for many in the liberal media, partisan loyalty still trumps their obligation to tell the American people the truth – even when that truth involves matters as serious as the president’s health and fitness for office.
