And the House Speaker finally stood up to the “woke” mob when he announced one policy.
Mike Johnson backs Nancy Mace
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has largely been a disappointment.
Shortly after receiving the Speaker’s gavel, Johnson promised that he would end funding for the war in Ukraine and end FISA court abuses.
Instead, Johnson continued the status quo on both issues.
But Johnson finally did something that conservatives like.
He stood up to the Left on the issue of men in women’s bathrooms.
Controversy arose when Sarah McBride, who is a biological male who used to go by Tim, was sent to Congress by Delaware as a Democrat.
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) said that she did not want McBride using the women’s bathroom in Congress.
At first, Speaker Johnson tried to punt on the issue.
He told reporters, “For anyone who doesn’t know my established record on this issue, let me be unequivocally clear: a man is a man, and a woman is a woman, and a man cannot become a woman. . .That said, I also believe that’s what scripture teaches, what I just said, but I also believe we treat everybody with dignity. We can do and believe all those things at the same time.”
People on the Right were disturbed by Johnson’s wishy-washy response.
A few hours later, he unequivocally said no men in the women’s bathroom.
Johnson’s pivot
Johnson said, “All single-sex facilities in the Capitol and House Office Buildings — such as restrooms, changing rooms, and locker rooms — are reserved for individuals of that biological sex. . .It is important to note that each Member office has its own private restroom, and unisex restrooms are available throughout the Capitol. . .Women deserve women’s only spaces.”
Despite relentless heat from the media, Mace did not back down.
She said on NewsNation, “This is a real thing. . .This isn’t manufactured. This person wants to come in and use women’s spaces. If I’m in as a woman, I’m changing clothes in the locker room, because I use the gym. When I’m up here in DC, the women’s gym, and a man shows up in his genitalia. His penis is in the room. No, like, I’m not. It’s not okay.”
Mace is a rape victim, so she has a reason to be particularly uncomfortable with males in the women’s bathroom and locker room.
McBride responded, “I’m not here to fight about bathrooms. I’m here to fight for Delawareans and to bring down costs facing families. . .Like all members, I will follow the rules as outlined by Speaker Johnson, even if I disagree with them.”
It’s insane that Johnson even needed to say such a thing.
But this is how demented the Left has become.
Culture war issues like this are a big reason why Donald Trump won in the first place.
Republicans cannot be afraid to stand their ground when Democrats try to bully them into accepting insanity.
