Donald Trump is prepared to hit the ground running in his second term in office.

He knows he does not have any time to waste.

And Donald Trump is reportedly working behind the scenes to help Vivek Ramaswamy make one move that’ll keep Democrats up at night.

Ramaswamy to the Senate?

President-elect Donald Trump is quickly assembling a cabinet for his second term in office, which officially begins on January 20.

One project that technically falls outside the purview of the federal government is SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk’s brainchild, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Trump followed through with his promise to make DOGE a reality by tapping Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the effort to trim waste, fraud, and abuse from the federal government.

Trump announced in November, “I am pleased to announce that the Great Elon Musk, working in conjunction with American Patriot Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the Department of Government Efficiency (‘DOGE’). Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies – Essential to the ‘Save America’ Movement.”

However, Trump may already have a different role in mind for Ramaswamy.

According to reports, Trump wants him to take Vice President-elect J.D. Vance’s vacated Ohio Senate seat.

An Ohio native, Ramaswamy would make sense as Vance’s replacement.

The Washington Post reported that “Ramaswamy publicly withdrew his name from consideration for the post in November, after Trump chose him to lead the ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ panel along with billionaire executive Elon Musk. But the Ohio native has reemerged in recent days as one of the leading contenders for the Senate seat and is in advanced discussions with GOP leaders about the position. . .JD Vance, who previously held the seat, officially resigned Friday to serve as Trump’s vice president. Under Ohio law, Gov. Mike DeWine (R) will appoint a replacement for the next two years, and then a special election on Nov. 3, 2026, will decide who serves until the term expires in 2029.”

DeWine is a RINO, so there’s no telling who he could pick to fill the seat.

Vivek’s future

The Post added that “Ramaswamy has long planned to run for governor of Ohio in 2026, after completing his work with DOGE, which is supposed to wrap up operations by July 4, 2026. It’s unclear how the appointment would affect Ramaswamy’s leadership of DOGE, which is not an official government body. But some of his allies have argued that it would advance the group’s legislative goals by giving him a perch in Congress.”

Avik Roy, a GOP advisor and founder of the Foundation for Research on Equal Opportunity, remarked, “I think it’s a great idea, and he should do it. . .In terms of the DOGE component, you want someone quarterbacking the legislative and statutory components in the Senate, and for Vivek, I think he and the country will benefit greatly from him serving in elected office.”

With Ramaswamy in the Senate, that would give Trump another reliable vote who believes in his agenda.

It would also give Ramaswamy some official political experience beyond punditry and running for office.

According to The Post, Musk is also in favor of Ramaswamy taking the Senate seat.

Trump needs as many allies as possible who are not members of Permanent Washington.

Ramaswamy in the Senate could be a good tactical move.

Now, the ball is in DeWine’s court.
