Donald Trump is taking off the gloves in his fight to secure the border.

He’s leaving nothing to chance to keep drugs and illegal aliens out of the country.

And Donald Trump authorized one secret mission in Mexico that had the cartels pressing the panic button.

CIA is conducting drone flights into Mexico

President Donald Trump issued an executive order on his first day in office designating the Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.

A reporter asked Trump if he would send the Special Forces into Mexico to target the cartels.

“Could happen,” Trump said. “Stranger things have happened.”

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is flying MQ-9 Reaper drones into Mexico to conduct surveillance on the cartels.

A source told Fox News that these drones are unarmed and are collecting information on the location of the fentanyl labs and cartel operations.

The cartels manufacture fentanyl on an industrial scale with chemical precursors from China before smuggling it across the border.

These Reaper drones are unarmed but the armed versions of them have been used for strikes against terrorists in Afghanistan and the Middle East.

Mexico’s Criminal Investigation Agency head Felipe de Jesus Gallo said that the cartels are running a sophisticated operation to mass produce fentanyl.

“Believe me, methamphetamine production has become industrialized, it’s not just in the mountains anymore,” Gallo explained. “We now expect to see (drug) laboratories not just in the mountains of Sinaloa and Sonora, but in Hidalgo as well, Puebla, and also in Jalisco.”

Trump is upping the ante in the fight against the cartels

Trump and his National Security Advisor Michael Waltz have suggested in the past that military force should be on the table against the cartels.

A CIA spokesman said that the agency was working to counter the cartels under Trump.

“Countering drug cartels in Mexico and regionally is a priority for CIA as a part of the Trump Administration’s broader efforts to end the grave threat from narco-trafficking. Director [John] Ratcliffe is determined to put CIA’s unique expertise to work against this multifaceted challenge,” a CIA spokesman said.

The CIA doesn’t admit to using drones in its covert operations.

CNN reported that the drones could be laying the groundwork for direct action in Mexico by the CIA or the military.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum was asked about reports of CIA drones operating in her country’s air space at a press conference.

“It’s part of this little campaign,” Sheinbaum said in Spanish without elaborating.

The Air Force has been conducting surveillance flights in international waters around Baja California with spy planes like the U-2.

Sheinbaum previously said that the United States was sharing information from this surveillance with the Mexican government.

Trump has pressured the Mexican government to do more to secure the border and stop the flow of fentanyl into the United States.

Sheinbaum moved 10,000 troops with the Mexican National Guard to the border after Trump threatened to place a 25% tariff on imports from Mexico.

The Trump administration is keeping a close eye on the cartels as it looks to crack down on them.
