The DHS’ Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) for example, has teamed up with private entities to stop the flow of so called “misinformation,” “disinformation,” and “malinformation.”
These efforts almost exclusively target right-leaning news sources who dare to praise Donald Trump or even give him a fair shake.
Last week, The Federalist reported on this disturbing initiative, even reaching out to CISA representatives for comment.
This request for comments from CISA comes after one of their initiates targeted The Federalist’s Editor-in-Chief Mollie Hemingway and CEO Sean Davis in 2020, along with a slew of other conservative media figures and writers.
One CISA representative responded to this request and even boasted about their election “misinformation” campaigns, telling The Federalist, “CISA coordinates support for these election infrastructure partners across the federal government, with our state and local partners, and with the private sector to help them reduce cyber, physical, and operational security risks to election infrastructure.”
Established in 2018, the Election Infrastructure Subsector Coordinating Council (SCC), which represents the largest coordination between CISA and the private sector, has worked to help various entities identify and silence so-called election falsehoods.
Many Americans fear that this unprecedented effort to silence what the government deems as “misinformation” has and could erode the first amendment freedom of speech.
After all, the entire purpose of the First Amendment is designed to protect citizens from having their voices silenced by a powerful central government.
