Clinton hack wants to silence conservatives online
Online censorship was one of the keys to victory for President Joe Biden in the 2020 Election.
The New York Post’s bombshell story about Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop was poised to be the ultimate October surprise.
51 former intelligence officials and the FBI called the story Russian misinformation, which painted the target for censorship.
Big Tech was able to censor and suppress the story in the closing weeks of the election, leaving many voters in the dark about the contents of Hunter’s laptop.
The Left had a stranglehold on all of the major social media platforms until Tesla founder Elon Musk purchased Twitter, now known as X, in 2022.
Musk established X as a beachhead for free speech in the digital world.
Democrats have been fuming about losing control over the platform ever since then.
Robert Reich – the Secretary of Labor under former President Bill Clinton – wrote a piece in The Guardian warning that Musk was “out of control” and needed to be reined in.
“He may be the richest man in the world,” Reich wrote. “He may own one of the world’s most influential social media platforms. But that doesn’t mean we’re powerless to stop him.”
Democrats can’t win the argument so they want to silence their critics.
Reich is unhappy that Musk endorsed former President Donald Trump and is supporting a PAC backing him.
The plan to wage war against Elon Musk
The former Labor Secretary urged advertisers to boycott X, which has already faced them after Musk took over.
Reich is concerned about misinformation being spread on X and by Musk himself.
Misinformation is the Left’s buzzword for speech they don’t like, which paints the target for censorship and for the media to discredit.
Hunter Biden’s laptop, the lab leak theory of the pandemic, and countless other true stories were smeared as misinformation before they were confirmed to be true.
Reich suggested the Biden-Harris administration deploy the Federal Trade Commission to threaten Musk to take down misinformation and sue him if he doesn’t.
There’s some evidence that Vice President Kamala Harris might support such a strategy.
“There has to be a responsibility placed on these social media sites to understand their power,” Kamala said in 2019. “They are directly talking to millions and millions of people without any level of oversight or regulation — and that has to stop.”
If that doesn’t work, Reich says world governments should threaten to arrest him.
“Regulators around the world should threaten Musk with arrest if he doesn’t stop disseminating lies and hate on X,” Reich wrote.
Reich said that this could already be in the works after Telegram CEO Pavel Durov was arrested in France for alleged illegal activity that took place on his messaging app.
The Left wants to crush any platform that supports free speech before the election.
