Federal Judge blocks parents from protesting transgender athletes
In a shocking attack on free speech, a Federal Judge in New Hampshire barred parents from wearing pink wristbands with “XX” on them during their daughters’ high school soccer games.
The parents had been wearing the wristbands to protest a transgender athlete competing against their daughters on the field.
U.S. District Court Judge Steven McAuliffe, appointed by President George H.W. Bush, ruled that Bow School District officials acted “reasonably” when they issued no-trespass orders against parents who wore the wristbands at games where 16-year-old transgender athlete Parker Tirrell was playing.
“While plaintiffs may very well have never intended to communicate a demeaning or harassing message directed at Parker Tirrell or any other transgender students, the symbols and posters they displayed were fully capable of conveying such a message,” Judge McAuliffe wrote in his ruling.
The parents had filed a lawsuit claiming their First Amendment rights were being violated, but the Judge essentially told them their rights don’t matter when it comes to transgender politics.
Pam Bondi steps in to defend women’s sports and parental rights
Attorney General Pam Bondi isn’t standing by while parents get silenced for trying to protect their daughters.
Bondi announced on Wednesday that she’s ordered the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division to review the case.
“I have asked my Civil Rights Division to examine this matter. This DOJ stands with women and their supportive parents,” Bondi wrote on X in response to women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines bringing attention to the case.
This intervention by Bondi shows the stark difference between the Trump administration’s approach to women’s rights and the previous Democrat administration’s policies that sacrificed women’s sports on the altar of transgenderism.
The parents in New Hampshire simply wanted to express a biological truth – that females have XX chromosomes – while watching their daughters compete.
But Bow and Dunbarton School Districts Superintendent Marcy Kelley responded to this peaceful protest by issuing trespass notices against parents including Antony and Nicole Foote, Kyle Fellers, and Eldon Rash.
Free speech attorneys fighting back
The Institute for Free Speech, which is representing the parents, blasted the Judge’s decision.
“This was adult speech in a limited public forum, which enjoys greater First Amendment protection than student speech in the classroom,” attorney Del Kolde said. “Bow School District officials were obviously discriminating based on viewpoint because they perceived the XX wristbands to be ‘trans-exclusionary’.”
The case demonstrates how far the radical Left will go to silence anyone who dares to stand up for biological reality and women’s rights.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump is taking action to protect female athletes across the country.
Trump recently signed an executive order “Keeping Men out of Women’s Sports” that seeks to protect female student athletes from having “to compete with or against or having to appear unclothed before males.”
The executive order also allows the federal government to “rescind funding to programs that fail to comply” with protecting women “as a matter of safety, fairness, dignity, and truth.”
This executive order stands in direct opposition to years of Democrat policies that have allowed biological males to dominate women’s sports and invade female spaces.
Bondi’s intervention shows that the Trump administration is committed to upholding both women’s rights and parents’ constitutional freedoms.
The case marks yet another battleground in the fight to preserve women’s sports and protect the rights of parents to speak out when they see their daughters being treated unfairly.
With the Department of Justice now reviewing the case, these New Hampshire parents may finally get the justice they deserve.
Democrats who have championed policies allowing biological males to compete against women are finding themselves increasingly isolated as Americans wake up to the consequences of their radical agenda.
