Marjorie Taylor Greene threatens criminal referrals over USAID
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is growing scandal after the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) exposed its wasteful and corrupt spending.
USAID was a little-known government agency that was allegedly engaged in foreign aid.
DOGE created headlines when it exposed that the agency was using taxpayer money for transgender surgeries in Guatemala and to pay diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) seminars at Serbian workplaces.
The woke spending made the headlines but USAID was doing far more sinister things.
Funding from the agency was used to support censorship against Americans and to fund left-wing nonprofits at home and abroad.
Members of the Taliban and Hamas got their hands on money from USAID because of poor oversight.
USAID had become a government piggybank that was being used to help the Democrats and their agenda.
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is going after waste, fraud, and abuse in the government as the chair of the new House Oversight Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE).
She threatened to recommend “criminal referrals” to the Justice Department for anyone who misused USAID money during a DOGE hearing.
“This committee, based on this hearing and witness testimonies, will consider recommending investigations and criminal referrals,” Greene said after witnesses at the hearing alleged that USAID potentially participated in crimes.
USAID was used by Joe Biden for leverage in Ukraine
Greene said that USAID was being controlled by Democrats.
“The Democrat-run USAID should not get to use our federal government, our U.S. taxpayer dollars, as their party piggy bank to push their radical agenda in countries that we have no business giving money to,” Greene stated.
“Maybe we should consider investigating whether USAID funding has made it back to Democrat campaigns,” Greene added. “Has it affected elections?”
The alleged foreign aid agency even made its way into former President Joe Biden’s scandal in Ukraine.
“The prosecutor general of Ukraine at the time, Viktor Shokin, was investigating Burisma for corruption. Biden threatened, and it’s on video, to withhold $1 billion of USAID grant to Ukraine if Shokin wasn’t fired,” Greene explained.
Former President Barack Obama’s State Department wanted to move forward with giving $1 billion in aid because of Ukraine’s progress in fighting corruption.
Biden went against the administration’s policy by threatening to withhold the aid.
Greene asked Heritage Foundation senior research fellow Max Primorac, a former USAID official under Trump, about Biden’s leverage play in Ukraine.
“Is USAID supposed to be used as leverage by a President to protect his son?” Greene asked.
“No, we call that corruption,” Primorac replied.
Greene concluded the hearing reiterating her call for criminal referrals.
“What we have heard today is that USAID has been used as a tool by Democrats to brainwash the world with globalist propaganda to force regime changes around the world,” Greene explained. “But if USAID funded terrorism that resulted in the death of Americans, then this committee will be making criminal referrals.”
The USAID scandal is growing as more sunlight is shined on the agency.
