The media is settling in for another four years of fighting the Trump administration.
But they might get more than they bargained for this term.
And J.D. Vance put the media on notice with one scary fact that left them with a sinking feeling.
J.D. Vance warns media outlets acting as partisan Democrat outfits
The mask came completely off for the legacy media during the 2024 Election.
President Donald Trump was relentlessly attacked by media outlets who behaved like unregistered Democratic Super PACs.
The media became the second biggest loser of the election after their attacks couldn’t put a dent in Trump.
Vice President J.D. Vance talked about the Trump administration’s plan for handling the media during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity.
He warned the reporters acting like hacks for the Democrat Party would be treated as such.
“I actually think we are looking very seriously at which reporters show up,” Vance said. “If you’re a reporter, even if you’re biased toward the left, absolutely we want to answer your questions. If you’re a propagandist for the Democratic Party, then we’re going to treat you like a propagandist for the Democratic Party.”
The Trump administration recognizes the changing face of the media
Trump and Vance successfully navigated the new media environment in the 2024 Election by appearing on popular podcasts like comedian Joe Rogan’s and giving interviews to outlets like Breitbart.
Rogan’s audience for his podcast dwarfs cable news networks in size.
His interview with Trump last October received 26 million views on YouTube in the first 24 hours after it was posted.
Vance said that White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was welcoming podcasters and other media outlets into the briefing room.
“One of the things we’ve already done only eight days into this thing is, it is not just who is not there, it is also who is present,” Vance explained. “Karoline had a lot of new media folks, a lot of young people who represent the vanguard of news media in this country. She gave Matt Boyle from Breitbart a question yesterday. These are actually some of the people who are driving news in 2025 in America.”
Vance argued the rise in popularity of new media like podcasts should serve as a warning to the legacy media.
“I think frankly, the MSNBCs and CNNs of the world should take the hint,” Vance stated. “Your viewership is way down, your ratings are abysmal. Why is it that especially young people are tuning into new media? Maybe it is because instead of engaging in propaganda, the new media is asking real questions.”
The new media is driving the conversation because they have an intellectual curiosity that’s absent in the legacy media.
“Joe Rogan, one of the biggest voices in American media now, was a Bernie Bro eight years ago,” Vance said. “This is not some crazy right-wing guy, this is just a person who was asking questions. Unfortunately, most of the old media are just not interested in that.”
The Trump administration is going to treat journalists acting like Democrat hacks as fake news.
