Whoopi Goldberg is one of the obnoxious harpies on The View.
She let her big mouth get the better of her.
And Whoopi Goldberg was demolished by a top Democrat for starting one fight she lived to regret.
Whoopi Goldberg makes a fake claim about being discriminated against for a Democrat
Whoopi Goldberg celebrated her 69th birthday on the set of ABC’s The View with her fellow cohosts over Charlotte Russe cakes.
She claimed to be a victim of political discrimination on the daytime talk show after the bakery she went to in State Island told her that they couldn’t accommodate a large order because they were having problems with their broiler.
The order almost fell through but the bakery was able to bake enough of the cakes for her celebration.
“Now, I should tell you, Charlotte Russe has no political leanings, and the place that made these refused to make them for me,” Goldberg ranted. “They said that their ovens had gone down, all kinds of stuff, but folks went and got them anyway, which is why I’m not telling you who made them. Perhaps they did not like my politics.”
Entertainment Weekly was able to track down the bakery that made the cakes based on their packaging on the show.
Holtermann’s Bakery on Staten Island made the cakes for her.
Goldberg got the woke outrage mob ginned at a 145-year-old family bakery over something she made up out of thin air.
The bakery’s owner Jill Holtermann told Entertainment Weekly she got the order from Goldberg but her 100-year-old building was dealing with broiler problems and she didn’t want to make a promise she couldn’t keep.
New York State Senator rips Whoopi Goldberg for attack on family business
Holtermann’s Bakery has been an institution on State Island for decades.
New York Democrat State Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton (D-NY) – who represents part of Staten Island – unloaded on Goldberg during an appearance on Fox & Friends Weekend.
Scarcella-Spanton called Goldberg “self-centered” for making a “ridiculous” attack on a small family business.
“I think it was such a ridiculous thing to do. Inserting herself into a conversation about a local business and coming after a business, especially as a celebrity, can be incredibly dangerous,” Scarcella-Spanton said. “But the Staten Island community comes together.”
Scarcella-Spanton is a longtime customer of the bakery.
“It was really self-serving, very self-centered,” Scarcella-Spanton continued. “Businesses aren’t thinking about Whoopi Goldberg, they’re thinking about how to make sure they get out the best pastries as you see them right on the screen in front of you, they were able to get them.”
She noted that business was “booming” at the bakery after the Staten Island community rallied around it following Goldberg’s scurrilous attack.
“I always tell people, I’m a Democrat,” Scarcella-Spanton said. “I’m a normal Democrat. Holtermann’s never refused to serve me. They just had a boiler issue.”
Whoopi Goldberg’s obnoxious behavior is usually confined to daytime TV.
This time it spilled out into the real world and even a Democrat had to speak out against her.
