Joe Rogan rips The Times for ragging on the Constitution
Comedian and MMA commentator Joe Rogan has the top podcast in the world, which would not be a problem if he were fully on board the Left’s agenda.
Even though Rogan holds several liberal views, he also has some conservative beliefs, and he is a big opponent of the over-the-top “woke” assault on American culture.
That’s one reason why he moved his entire operation from Los Angeles to Austin, Texas.
During a recent episode of his show with evolutionary biologist Bret Weinstein, Rogan went off on a New York Times piece that called the Constitution “dangerous.”
The column had the Orwellian title: “The Constitution Is Sacred. Is It Also Dangerous?
One of the biggest threats to America’s politics might be the country’s founding document.”
The title alone spurred Rogan to respond, “What the f*** are you talking about?”
The Times wrote, “The United States Constitution is in trouble. After Donald Trump lost the 2020 election, he called for the ‘termination of all rules, regulations and articles, even those found in the Constitution.’”
That is a dishonest read of what he said.
Trump was accusing the Democrats of doing those things with their actions.
Weinstein responded, “I mean, it’s—on the one hand—completely predictable, right? Because there’s obviously an authoritarian force there that just grinds its teeth at night over the Constitution and the fact that it prevents it from doing things that it just wants to do. . .”
There have been several editorials from The New York Times and other left-wing outlets taking shots at the Constitution.
They understand it to be an impediment to their agenda.
Weinstein continued, “And so of course, they’re like, scratching their heads, like, ‘Can we come up with an argument for why it might be time to get rid of that thing?’ And of course, if you’re a normal thinking person, this is complete insanity. But if you’re a New York Times reader, I’m sure that fits with the kind of ethos that’s been cultivated.”
Trump is the perfect boogeyman for the Left
Rogan then pointed out why Trump is a necessary foil to authoritarian globalists.
He argued, “Well, this is why a person like Trump is so important to them. Because if you don’t have someone that is an imminent threat on the horizon in three months, it’s very difficult to justify all this s***.”
And that’s the point.
The Orange Man Is So Bad that even the Constitution must be trampled over to stop him.
“So if you have Kamala Harris and she’s competing against Ron DeSantis,” Rogan continued, “[Y]ou wouldn’t be able to make that argument. There’s no imminent threat. . .Let’s say Mitt Romney. Let’s say someone even more moderate as a Republican, more palatable. You can’t make that argument. . .[that] the First Amendment is getting in the way.”
The two also discussed the Brazilian government cracking down on Twitter in the country, a move that was celebrated by the international Left.
