Joe Biden gives clemency for the “cash-for-kids” judge
President Joe Biden had the largest single day of clemency in American history when he commuted nearly 1,500 sentences and handed out 39 pardons.
Among the scoundrels that Biden let off the hook was a judge at the center of one of the most shocking acts of judicial corruption in modern history.
Former Luzerne County, Pennsylvania Judge Michael Conahan had his sentence commuted by the President after he was involved in the “cash-for-kids” scandal.
Conahan was receiving kickbacks from a for-profit prison company for sending thousands of minors to jail at one of the company’s private detention facilities.
He sentenced juveniles to prison who would have normally avoided jail time because of the relatively minor crimes they committed.
Conahan accepted $2.1 million in kickbacks from private prison companies.
He was given 17 years in federal prison after he pled guilty to a slew of criminal charges including racketeering.
Sandy Fonzo’s son committed suicide after Conahan sentenced him to a private prison for a petty crime.
She was outraged that Biden let the corrupt judge off the hook.
“I am shocked and I am hurt,” Fonzo said. “Conahan‘s actions destroyed families, including mine, and my son‘s death is a tragic reminder of the consequences of his abuse of power. This pardon feels like an injustice for all of us who still suffer.”
Conahan was released to home confinement in 2020 during the pandemic to serve out the rest of his sentence because he was a non-violent offender.
White House didn’t look to see who they were commuting the sentences of
The CARES Act passed in March 2020 after the pandemic struck included a provision that allowed about 12,000 federal prisoners convicted of nonviolent crimes to spend the rest of their sentences under house arrest.
Conahan was one of the recipients of this privilege.
Politico reported that the White House was pressured by left-wing activist groups to commute the sentences of the remaining federal prisoners under house arrest from the CARES Act.
The White House issued the pardons without looking at who they were pardoning to appease the far-left.
Every federal prisoner under home arrest got their sentence completed if they committed a nonviolent crime and hadn’t caused any trouble in the past year.
Biden freed a laundry list of crooked Democrat politicians, scam arrests, and ne’er-do-wells with the move.
The “cash-for-kids” judge having his sentence commuted was even more shocking because it happened in Biden’s city of birth, Scranton.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro (D) criticized Biden for the pain he brought to his hometown.
“I do feel strongly that President Biden got it absolutely wrong and created a lot of pain here in Northeastern Pennsylvania,” Shapiro said. “This was not only a black eye on the community, the kids-for-cash scandal, but it also affected families in really deep and profound and sad ways. Some children took their lives because of this. Families were torn apart.”
Joe Biden added another blackeye to his failed Presidency as it comes to a close.
