Republicans prepare for messy budget reconciliation process
President Donald Trump’s top two legislative priorities are an extension and expansion of his 2017 tax cuts and a border security package that includes money for mass deportations and to finish building his border wall.
Congressional Republicans are going to use the budget reconciliation process to pass their priorities, which will allow them to pass it on a party line vote and avoid a Senate filibuster by Democrats.
Trump and House Republicans want to put border security, tax cuts, and energy into what the President calls “one big, beautiful bill.”
House conservatives want to pay for the bill in part by fully repealing former President Joe Biden’s grossly misnamed Inflation Reduction Act.
The $1 trillion law is a massive green energy lush fund that every Republican in Congress voted against in 2022.
A group of about 20 House RINOs wants to save the bill’s green energy tax credits from getting axed.
Representatives Chip Roy (R-TX) and Eric Burlison (R-MO) are drawing a line in the sand over the RINOs’ demands to keep huge swaths of Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act.
“If Republicans are going to refuse to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act, they are not going to get a Republican tax bill through the House,” Roy said. “It’s costly, it’s inflationary, and we should repeal every dollar of it.”
Trump ran on repealing the bill which he dubbed the “Green New Scam.”
“The Trump presidency was built on the back of undoing all of the harm of the Biden administration, so that we can deliver for the American people,” Roy added. “We told people we were going to do it. And we need to deliver on it.”
RINOs want to keep Joe Biden’s Green New Deal going
Repealing the green energy tax credits backed by the House RINOs would save more than $850 billion over a decade, according to the Tax Foundation.
RINO Representative Andrew Garbarino (R-NY) threatened to tank the reconciliation bill unless Biden’s tax credits are protected.
“We have 20-plus members saying, ‘Don’t just think you can repeal these things and have our support,’” Garbarino told Politico.
He laughably claimed the green energy tax credits were part of Trump’s America First agenda and promoted American energy dominance.
Burlison warned these RINO turncoats were standing in the way of Trump’s agenda.
“Giving that up is jeopardizing Trump’s agenda, not only to do what he promised, which was to repeal the ‘Green New Scam,’ but to [also] make the Trump Tax cuts permanent,” Burlison said.
“If you’re not going to repeal the IRA … and find savings in other mandatory spending programs — if you’re not willing to make that happen — you’re not going to be able to achieve these wins for Donald Trump,” Burlison added.
Republicans have slim margins in both houses of Congress and can’t afford to lose more than a couple of votes.
The RINO sellouts are threatening to go to war to save Biden’s Green New Deal policies.
